Votergate 2004 is not going away. There are stories every day about the Ukraine and the obvious fraud in their elections but deafening silence about our own elections continues. Last week there were CONGRESSIONAL HEARINGS about voter fraud. Not one GOP Representative bothered to attend, desperately afraid of lending any legitimacy to the allegations. What was presented even made Congressman John Conyers object to the elections results. Where was the coverage??? Not one word from the NY Times??? I can understand FOX not covering an event potentially damaging to their boss, Bush, but the NY Times? This is the same paper that apologized to it’s readers for it’s horrific coverage in the lead up to the Iraq War, and now they give their readers another reason to not trust them as being objective. Even if you think the allegations are baseless, COVER the story!

Now, we have yet another blatant piece of evidence that the Ohio results are fraudulent, and it is greeted with more silence. On Friday, Ken "GOP Whore" Blackwell decided to stop the legal recount being conducted in Greene County Ohio, in mid-count. When the volunteers asked under what authority they were being stopped they were told that Ken Blackwell had determined that “all voter records for the state of Ohio were “locked-down,” and now they are not considered public records.” For those who may have been unaware due to the media lockdown, Ken Blackwell is not only the Ohio Secretary of State, but he was also the State Chair of the Bush reelection campaign. Conflict of interest anyone? Katherine Harris redux anyone?

Now, here is the kicker. Blackwell not only did not have the authority to take this action, he is actually in violation of the law. Ohio Revised Code Title XXXV Elections, Sec. 3503.26 that requires all election records to be made available for public inspection and copying. ORC Sec. 3599.161 makes it a crime for any employee of the Board of Elections to knowingly prevent or prohibit any person from inspecting the public records filed in the office of the Board of Elections. Lastly, ORC Sec. 3599.42 states: “A violation of any provision of Title XXXV (35) of the Revised Code constitutes a prima facie case of election fraud within the purview of such Title.”

Did you get that America ? The Secretary of State of Ohio, who has an obvious conflict of interest by being the State Chair for the reelection of George W. Bush, has now violated the law to stop a recount that could prove that Bush actually lost Ohio, and thus the entire presidential election. Where in the hell is the media? Where is the outrage? Why is this not the TOP story on every network? Why is this not the HEADLINE in every paper? Again, even if you think the fraud allegations will not amount to overturning the election, isn’t the potential of real voter fraud in this country worth reporting? When a man who is so obviously compromised and ethically bankrupt such as Blackwell actually VIOLATES THE LAW, isn’t that considered news? Is it not even more relevant when you consider the ONLY possible reason for Blackwell to illegally stop the recount is that he is afraid of the results?

Blackwell’s strategy is transparent. First he insisted that recounts cannot occur until after the results were certified. Then he delayed the certification process until the absolute last day. During that period he told Keith Olbermann that he would not seek to interfere with any recount attempts and that such efforts would be, “yet another audit of the voting process." His actual quote from that interview was:

“We’ve told the two officials, candidates that once we certify on December 6th, they have five days to certify. I mean, to ask for a recount. Once they ask for a recount, we will provide them with a recount. And that’s what I’ve said from the very first indication that they were interested in a recount. Once it was established that they were statewide candidates with standing, our law says that they can ask for a recount. We will regard this as yet another audit of the voting process.”

Apparently Blackwell forgot that the recount was a legal procedure. Obviously his strategy has been to delay and stall. He knows that the further he pushes the process, the harder it will be to overturn the results. These tactics are abhorrent and translucent. Every citizen should be outraged, regardless of party.

Tomorrow the Congressional hearings continue, this time from the state of Ohio at 10:30 AM . This represents yet another chance for our media to prove that they are not mere lackeys of this administration. This is yet another chance for them to prove that they are concerned with your interests. This is not about democrat or republican. This is about the heart of our democracy. There have been statistical studies and analyses that have swayed me to believe there was gross fraud in the election but even if you do not believe such, is it not part of democracy to ensure that the election was fair? Blackwell waited until late Friday to stop the recount because he knew that it would be the most opportune time to avoid any media coverage. This Monday, tomorrow, that better change.

We now have a smoking gun, in the hands of Kenneth Blackwell. If mainstream media do not cover both the Blackwell illegalities and the second Congressional hearings about VOTER FRAUD in THIS COUNTRY, then it is time to send them the message they will understand, BOYCOTT. If your local paper, in my case the NY Times, refuses to acknowledge that CONGRESS IS MEETING TO INVESTIGATE FRAUD, and that Kenneth Blackwell HAS NOW BROKEN THE LAW TO PROTECT BUSH, then it is time to cancel subscriptions, tell them why, and never read their product again if they refuse to represent YOUR interests and present the news, not determine what you will and will not read. Anything less is unacceptable and un-American.
