Rome, Aug 11 - "I was consternated and anguished to hear the news of the barbaric murder of young Angelo Frammartino, who was involved in a mission of solidarity for Palestinian children.

This brutal murder is part of the violence which is upsetting the entire region," wrote Italian President Giorgio Napolitano in a message to the CGIL Secretary General, the ARCI President and the Mayor of Monterotondo.

"It must be ended as soon as possible through more effort from the international community, determination, the good will of peace-loving people and the willingness to engage in talks from all the parts involved in order to ensure the security of all the people in the area, which Italy empathises with.

In this moment of great suffering for such a cruel loss, I express the condolences and solidarity of the Italian people and myself personally." Napolitano also sent a message of condolences to the family of Angelo Frammartino, reading: "All Italians are united in the pain for the loss of Angelo, whose generous life was cut short in the prime of his life in a brutal murder.

In this moment of great suffering for such a cruel loss, I send my profound condolences to your family." (AGI) .
