Attack-Terrorism Governments USA Mary MacElveen

by Mary MacElveen

When Ned Lamont won the Democratic primary in Connecticut against the three term senator, Joe Lieberman, it was taken that Democratic voters and Democrats themselves do not take terrorism seriously.

As a Democrat here in the United States, I will go on record stating that is complete nonsense.

Through many columns here at VHeadline.com, I have been calling for the extradition of Luis Posada Carriles who is presently being held in El Paso, Texas.

It seems that the United States fears that he will be tortured by Venezuelan authorities.

I find that hypocritical at best and have said so considering our use of torture at Abu Ghraib on Iraqi prisoners.

Imagine my outrage as I read an August 14 CNN article that reported "A Cuban militant accused of masterminding the 1976 bombing of a Cuban airliner wants a federal judge to let him out of jail while the US government continues searching for a country where it can deport him."

Again, Bush’s government proves that we are on the side of terrorists as we are searching for a country to deport Posada Carriles to.

They need not search since Venezuela wants him back.

Perhaps we want him out of this country so that he cannot spill the beans of his involvement with our CIA as reported in a previous article where I wrote "Many here in the United States clamor for our borders to be more secure: Using a false passport, Posada snuck into the United States in late March and remains in hiding."

The reason his lawyer is asking Bush for asylum is the fact that he worked for the CIA during the 1960s and early 1970s ... and remained an informant in regular contact with CIA officials at least until June 1976."

When Posada Carriles escaped from Venezuela in 1985, he fled to El Salvador and worked under the alias Ramon Medina on the illegal contra resupply program run by Lt. Col. Oliver North in the Reagan National Security Council. So, even back during the Reagan administration we had a terrorist working for us.

Please remember that during that administration we helped create the ultimate "evil doer" named Osama bin Laden.

Now getting back to the torture issue, an immigration judge cited that we could not send him back to Venezuela or to Cuba for this very reason. Would we be saying this of Osama bin Laden? Of course not. Then again, Bush, Cheney and their man Lieberman have not found him either.

As it stands the Bush government thinks that it is fighting terrorism (again a war that cannot be won) by killing innocent Iraqis ... but, here we are protecting a proven terrorist. I think that the families of those 73 victims aboard Cubana flight 455 would agree as it came crashing down on October 6, 1976.

While Posada Carriles has denied any involvement in this terrorist act (according to CNN), let him prove so in a Venezuelan court. He was about to be sentenced in Venezuela, but escaped a Venezuelan prison and (under Venezuelan law) one cannot be sentenced in absentia.

El Paso immigration attorney Felipe D.J. Millan stated "He just wants to go home and die in peace."

Would any attorney in their right mind say that of a terrorist that took the lives of American citizens? No, he or she would be lynched by the American people for even saying it.

This attorney even cited how his (Posada Carriles’) health is declining and he is in need of a pacemaker. Would we feel that sympathetic if this was Osama bin Laden? Is this CNN report trying to illicit sympathy for this terrorist?

I would like to challenge Felipe D.J. Millan to say "The people who run the detention center ... treat Mr. Posada Carriles very well" and "they’ve done their part, more than their part ... but they can only go so far. It’s a detention center, not a hospital" to the victims families of Cubana flight 455. These victim’s families have been waiting for their justice for close to thirty years now and so far it has been denied them.

We in the United States that rally around the victims of 9/11, must also rally around the victims of October 6 and tell our government to send this terrorist back to Venezuela to face justice. That is when we prove that we are not on the side of terrorists...

To CNN and to Felipe D.J. Millan: Posada Carriles deserves no sympathy, no respect but our collective scorn.

In a previous VHeadline.com article, I wrote "As many have heard the pleas coming from Flight 93, I want all of you to put yourself in the shoes of those who heard the Mayday call from the Captain on Cubana Flight 455 when he radioed: "We have an explosion aboard, we are descending immediately! ... We have fire on board! We are requesting immediate landing! We have a total emergency!"... just before all on board perished."

Answer that Captain’s Mayday call by demanding that Posada Carriles be sent back to Venezuela.

They can dress Posada Carriles up, but we know what he truly is and that is a cold blooded terrorist.
