To Elliot Spitzer and the Democratic Majority, the people’s needs must come before impeachment

There is a big lesson for us all as one reads E.J. Dionne’s piece Remember who sent you in which he speaks to the new Democratic majority of why they were elected to take over both houses of congress and also this piece once again reaffirms my original belief that those across America did not vote for this new majority to get their pound of flesh through an impeachment process, although, no other administration is more deserving than the Bush administration. One only has to read the finer details of why this Bush administration does need impeaching.

E.J. Dionne’s wonderful piece also made me realize that the only reason why I made a complete 360 in my original message to us all that the needs of the American people must come first and foremost is because I became enraged at the incoming Governor of New York State, Elliot Spitzer. In his hubris to not stand in the way of any impeachment of Alan Hevesi, he too is not listening to the voters. When it comes to the charges against Alan Hevesi, Hevesi himself even stated that it “a dumb thing” when it comes to the ethics charges against him. Those charges are that he used tax money in order to have his ill wife chauffeured for three years at tax payer’s expense. He has since made restitution to the tax payers. Those charges do not even compare to the finer points as listed in the articles of impeachment against President Bush and Vice President Cheney.

Yet, politicos in wanting to prove something to the electorate, they have set their sights on a man in which they want to remove him from office. The voters of New York State knowing full well through the media as they too set their sights on Alan Hevesi did return him to the office of comptroller by a sixty percent margin. That should send the politicos in Albany, New York a message right there. It should tell newly elected leaders such as Elliot Spitzer that they do trust this man to continue to be the watch dog over their pensions, they trust this man in any oversight process of school districts fraught with fraud that has taken place on Long Island and where they trust this man as he has gone up against the likes of Arthur Anderson who at one time was connected to Enron.

What the electorate stated to Governor-elect, Elliot Spitzer was back off and that must be respected above all else. The electorate can turn on a dime as I have just did in reversing my opinion is that our needs come before any impeachment process. The electorate themselves can say to Elliot Spitzer should you decide to run for re-election, if by removing this man from office, we will not be there for you.

In switching my opinion calling for the impeachment of Bush that turn around was through my own personal vendetta against those that choose to remove Alan Hevesi from office. Yes, I was angry and when a powerful emotion such as that comes into play, logic takes a back seat. I now wonder if there is some personal vendetta against Hevesi by this newly elected governor, Elliot Spitzer. Is there bad blood between the two? I really do not know, but I still believe that he should back off of removing this man from office. It is out of the greater good that he does this since the people have spoken. They made their intent known at the polls. As E.J. Dionne’s wonderful piece points out, Elliot Spitzer should also learn why the people elected him to office and that was to serve their needs. It is wise and prudent for Elliot Spitzer to remember that.

E.J. Dionne realistically points out, “People at the bottom of the economy need help, which could come from an increase in the minimum wage, guaranteed health insurance, expanded wage subsidies through the earned-income tax credit and unionization.” He then goes onto say that the middle class in this country, “rebelled in large numbers last week,” They were saying through this rebellion, our needs come first before any vendettas. Even if those vendettas do scream truth to power.

Perhaps the best justice served is when people’s needs are attended to who have seen no justice since Bush and Cheney took power. It is about diminishing their legacy for years to come in which people will look back on their administration as being one of the darkest in the annals of American history. We have all witnessed Bush’s demeanor change right after this election. He is no longer the happy little cowboy, but one that walks around with his head hanging low. As his smirk is replaced by frowns, it does make me smirk. It has become easier to watch him on TV knowing in January he will no longer have a complicit congress. But, one that will truly be of checks and balances.

In my angst against Nancy Pelosi the incoming Speaker of the House who stated that impeachment was not on the table, it can be construed as a conflict of interest since she will assume a position that is third in line of succession to the presidency. Maybe that is the reason as well of why she has not called for the impeachment of both Bush and Cheney.

Someone also pointed out correctly that if through any investigations launched by the new Democratic majority that a ground swell comes from the electorate themselves for an impeachment process to begin, it is the electorate we must listen to as this same electorate stated, fix the mess in Washington, D.C. The electorate was smart this past Election Day and acted as jury members convicting the Republican led congress and sentencing them to a minority position within both houses. Let the same electorate act as jury members as the investigations prove the many illegal acts done by this administration.

When E.J. Dionne writes, “The task of creating an economy that is more just and more dynamic will not be completed within the life of the new Congress. It will take a decade of reform, experimentation and innovation. Now that House Democrats have settled on a majority leader, you can only hope they move away from self-involvement and start thinking about the people who sent them to Washington.”

The part that I zeroed in on was, “It will take a decade of reform, experimentation and innovation” What that says to me is that if this newly elected Democratic majority chooses to sustain any power given them, if by listening to a few, they just may blow any chance of sustaining power. The GOP controlled congress had a vice-grip over all of us and took away the funding to help the middle class and it will take the Democrats more than that to turn the tide.

In my lashing out directed towards Elliot Spitzer, I titled my piece, “I feel betrayed by Governor-elect, Elliot Spitzer and we must protect Alan Hevesi” That was pretty self-serving of me. I was putting my voice above all others within New York State. Because there are people across New York State that are hurting as E.J. Dionne so rightly points out in his piece. For that, I owe my readers an apology.

In my piece Through Bush’s ’stay the course’ policy, this little girl lost her father, I called upon my readers to pay attention to the picture of that little girl weeping at her father’s funeral as many went to the polls on Election Day. Her needs and the needs of others just like her must be paid attention to first and foremost. I forgot her face as I switched my position. She just lost her father and her concerns must come before my angst at Governor-elect, Elliot Spitzer. To that little girl, I also owe an apology. We must somehow as the new majority concentrate on getting all of these fathers and mothers out of that hell on Earth known as the war in Iraq before we even address articles of impeachment. Lives are dependent upon us doing so.

  • Et tu Mary?

It is interesting to see all the phony Democrats they have put up to attempt to ’lead’ the people astray

It is not going to work. WE the people know the truth and we demand justice.

Bush must be removed from office before he can do anymore damage. He said himself that the troops will not leave Iraq while he is in office. He is challenging us to Impeach him. We must impeach him!

Phony Democrats like Ed Shultz are already pushing for Iran stating that Bush was wrong on Iraq but Iran is really a threat. Thanks to all of the phony Democratic ’leaders’ and ’jounalists’ for coming foward to expose that you are part of the great plan to mislead the American People. But we have the numbers so you are out of luck. PEOPLE have the power! And we are not as dumb as they think we are.

  • You, madam, are a babbling brook whose time would be better served shopping at some Long Island mall. I suspect that only you and your psycoanalyst know what the hell you are talking about. Suffice it to say that when you did your 360, you wound up in exactly the same place. Did you mean to say that you did a 180? Probably, but who really cares. You’re an amateur hack who takes yourself way too seriously. A suggestion - proofread your precious little gems before thinking of posting them here on Bellaciao and then highlight the result and hit "DELETE."

  • If the Democrats inforce Republican and Bush policies, they will find themselves very lonely in 2008. Of course than the probably none voting people will be declared as victory by the Republicans, which will grab the presidency again.

Said, really said. The world will suffer unless it will come together and fight the American facists.

  • No problem....Spitzer and his ZIONIST JEW cohorts will be only too happy to accomodate you. They know only too well that if a REAL investigation and impeachment proceedings take place and the puppet Goyim’ start to squeal ,the Zionist SOURCE of all of the CRAP since and including 9-11 will come to light to the idiot American Goyim’...Can’t have that...we still have to provide $$$$$$$$ and cannon fodder to fragmentize Iran,Syria,Lebanon,Saudi Arabia and the rest of the freakin’ world....
