La Trobe University students to be deported back to Africa by Australia for Sins of their Fathers

Racism of a sneaky kind – politically correct racism, PC racism or so-called "dog whistling" racism (after whistles that only dogs can hear) – wins votes in the New Racist White Australia. Thus the Australian Federal Government – with the support of the cowardly, poll-driven Labor Opposition - has recently grossly breached the 1975 Racial Discrimination Act and the Universal Declaration of Human Rights (see: http://www.un.org/Overview/rights.html ) in relation to down-trodden Indigenous Australians (Aboriginal Australians) ( http://mwcnews.net/content/view/159... ).

The racist, Bush-ite Australian Government is continuing its persecution of Indian medical doctor Dr Haneef (they are appealing the judicial decision that they were wrong to cancel his work visa). They cancelled his WORK VISA because they didn’t like his SECOND COUSINS. Now they have cancelled the STUDENT VISAS of a number of African students because the Government disapproves of their FATHERS.

Australia has about 190,000 overseas students with student visas and its international education industry is worth about A$10 billion annually. However these students and this important industry are threatened by the decision of the Bush-ite Coalition Federal Government to unfairly, irresponsibly and arbitrarily terminate the student visas of some African students as retribution for the policies of their home country (for details and detailed discussion see MWC News: http://mwcnews.net/content/view/161... ). This continuing policy of cancellation of student visas of the Bush-ite Australian Government doesn’t like your RELATIVES is a major threat to the 15,000 Indian students currently holding student visas in Australia.

La Trobe University, Bundoora, Melbourne, ranks about #10 out of Australia’s about 40 universities and is a major destination for overseas university students who constitute over 10% of the student body. La Trobe University (main campus Bundoora, Melbourne) has approximately 26,500 students, including 3,000 international students (see CIS: http://www.degreesabroad-cis.com/la... ). The extreme right-wing, militant, radical, racist, Bush-ite Australian Federal Government has now cancelled the student visas of 2 La Trobe University students from Zimbabwe and of 6 others as retribution for their fathers and the students will be deported back to Africa. Three adult children of Zimbabwe’s Reserve Bank Governor Gideon Gono are among eight (8) students attending Australian universities who are to be deported. Dr Gono’s twin daughters Pride and Praise, are studying tourism and hospitality studies at Melbourne’s La Trobe University, and his son Passion, is studying music production in Sydney. They have been told that the Government has revoked their student visas because the Australian Government objects to Zimbabwean policies.

The Australian Foreign Minister Alexander Downer has indeed admitted that that the deportations are Australian Government responses to the polcies of the Mugabe régime in Zimbabwe and that this is, quote: "for the sins of their fathers" (for news reports and comment see: http://www.newsvine.com/zimbabwe and http://www.newsvine.com/la-trobe-un... ).

From now on, all student visa applications from Zimbabweans will be referred to Australian Foreign Minister Downer to decide if their presence would be against “Australia’s foreign policy interests”. There are 1512 Zimbabweans on student visas in Australia.

However the problem with RACISM – punishing people for what they inescapably ARE as opposed to what they have actually DONE – is that if They do it to ONE lot of people and They may well do it to others. This typically unfair approach by the Bush-ite Australian Government threatens ALL 190,000 overseas students in Australia with student visas.
According to the Australian Department of Immigration and Citizenship (DIMAC) (see: http://www.immi.gov.au/media/fact-s... ): “A total of 190,674 student visas were granted in 2005-06. This figure does not include Permission to Work, Change of Provider, or Student Guardian visas. This represents a significant increase of 9.09 per cent over the 2004-05 figure of 174,787 visas and is an encouraging trend for Australia’s international education sector.”

The Zimbabwe Mugabe régime has an appalling human rights-violating record - but then SO DOES the militant, extreme right wing, racist, warmongering, child-abusing, Bush-ite Australian Coalition Government which is complicit in the avoidable death of about 1 INFANT EVERY MINUTE in the Occupied Iraqi and Afghan Territories (see “Body Count. This arbitrary, unjust decision by the Bush-ite Australian Government threatens Australia’s numerous overseas university students and threatens the Australian universities that heavily depend upon such students for income i.e. at any time of its choosing the racist Australian Government will revoke overseas students’ visas , scrap their university studies and deport them. This is disgraceful, discriminatory, destructive and RACIST behaviour by a militant, extremist, racist Bush-ite régime.

There are about 15,000 Indian students in Australia on student visas as compared to 16,000 from China, 12,000 from Korea, 10,000 from the United States, 6,000 from Malaysia, 4,000 from Brazil and about 5,000 each from Japan, Thailand, Indonesia and Hong Kong (SAR of China) (2005-2006 figures) (see: http://www.immi.gov.au/media/fact-s... ). According to the Victorian Government Minister for Skills, Education Services and Employment, Jacinta Allan (March 22, 2007): “Last year [2006] international education was worth A$2.9 billion to the Victorian economy, and A$9.8 billion to the national economy.”

The Bush-ite “Coalition” Australian Federal Government has an appalling record of violent racism and abuse of NON-EUROPEANS both at home and abroad – 9,000 Indigenous Australians die avoidably each year (90,000 have died avoidably in the 11 years of egregiously incompetent Coalition Government; post-invasion excess deaths (avoidable deaths, deaths that did not have to happen) in the Occupied Iraqi and Afghan Territories total (as of March 2007) 1.0 million and 2.4 million, respectively, and post-invasion undr-5 infant deaths total 0.5 million and 1.9 million, respectively (see “Body Count. This latest racist injustice against African university students not only threatens nearly 200,000 overseas students in Australia but also threatens an “industry” worth about A$10 billion a year to Racist White Australia. This indeed is “cutting off your nose to spite your face” because of a pathological commitment to racism and injustice in the xenophobic, Bush-ite New Racist White Australia.

American teacher (tourist visa)was arrested, imprisoned without charge for about a week, deported under guard and then CHARGED $12,000 for the insult – because They didn’t like his VIEWS, his pro-Peace, anti-War activism) (see: “Pro-war Australia imprisons anti-war US teacher”: http://mwcnews.net/content/view/1361/26/ ); Indian medical doctor Dr Haneef doing specialist studies in Australia was arrested without charge for about 2 weeks, charged, charges dismissed at a second hearing after key evidence was shown to be false but still had his working visa revoked (with the prospect of 2 years in imprison) – and all this because They didn’t like his SECOND COUSINS; and now these African students have had their student visas revoked mid-course because the Bush-ite Australian Government doesn’t like their FATHERS.

Existing and prospective international students would be well advised to avoid the prospect of having their student visas cancelled mid-course because the extremist, militant, racist Australian Government doesn’t like their views, their father, mother, cousin, second cousin … or whatever.

Why should non-European students want to study in Racist White Australia anyway? On applying for student visas (and indeed work visas and tourist visas) they will quickly discover that under the secret, New White Australia Policy there is one procedure for Whites and what the Apartheid South Africans called “Honorary Whites” (e.g. Japanese) – and a quite different procedure for the rest, the “non-Whites” and what could be called “Honorary non-Whites” (notably most Eastern Europeans).

Would you patronize a restaurant that discriminates against non-Europeans, Arabs, Muslims, Lebanese, Indigenous People, Africans (as does the racist Australian Government with the complicity of a cowardly, poll-driven Labor Opposition)? Prospective and existing International Students aware of these travesties will be wise to avoid study in Racist White Australia and the prospect of mid-course termination and deportation for reasons completely beyond their control -Canada and New Zealand would be much safer destinations.
