Letter of march to Obama.

Prison Governments USA South/Latin America

Mr President Obama

The White House

1600 Pennsylvania Avenue N.W.

Washington DC 20500.

Mr President,

I would like to begin this letter with a poem written by one of the Cuban Five, Antonio Guerrero, when he was locked up in solitary confinement at the Oklahoma Federal Prison, waiting for his next transfer. This was one year ago.

A poem of hope, that pays homage to the international solidarity movement that is growing ever stronger, asking you, Mr. President, to free these five Cuban officials - Gerardo Hernández, Antonio Guerrero, Fernando González, Ramón Labañino, and René González.

Sure in the midst of the storm,

I imagine myself walking through the world,

as if together with me were walking,

shoulder to shoulder, invincible arms.

Many other icy nights

with dark winds will pass

unable to dispel the dawn

of the final day of the injustice.

Brothers and sisters in the struggle:

Our solidarity multiplies

like leaves in springtime.

You will deliver us victory.

You will be with us

on the great day of our return.

These worldwide demands to see the Cuban Five liberated are all the more strong as the connivance between the government you represent and the Mafia of Florida, during the course of the court case of Luis Posada at El Paso, becomes more and more flagrant.

If one of the key witnesses, Ann Louise Bardach, a newspaper reporter, was the victim of an extremely sophisticated cyber-attack, this was no coincidence and, as we learned last February 7th, she fears for her life. This reporter had done a series of interviews with Luis Posada Carriles in 1998, which came out in the New York Times on the 12th and 13th of July, 1998.

During these interviews, Posada Carriles had confirmed his implication during 1997 in the bombings against tourist facilities in Havana. One of these bombings killed Fabio di Celmo, a young Italian tourist.

Posada Carriles had also asserted that these terrorist attacks had been backed by the leaders of the Cuban American National Foundation. Its founder and leader at the time, Jorge Mas Canosa, today deceased, fraternized with President Reagan, Bush and Clinton.

Posada Carriles specified that Mas Canosa had helped in organizing his escape from a prison in Venezuela in 1985, then helping him to set up in Salvador, where he then joined the operation run by the White House that turned into the Iran-Contra scandal.

Chance had no hand in the fact that, in 1998, Hector Pesquera was named director of the South Florida F.B.I. and who, several months later, arrested the Cuban agents who had infiltrated the terrorist underworld of Miami. This is the same man who, in August of 2003, when he was head of the F.B.I. in Miami, ordered the shredding of the Luis Posada Carriles case file.

Chance had no hand in the fact that, in September of 2005, the DSH (Department of Homeland Security) of the United States paid absolutely no attention to the confession of L. Posada Carriles, recorded by the American journalist Blake Fleetwood in 1997 at Caracas, in the presence of Orlando Bosh. In his confession, Posada Carriles recounted the ties between the C.I.A. and his agency, where sinister projects were being hatched.

Chance had no hand in the fact that Luis Posada Carriles happened to be at the Dealy Plaza in Dallas when John Kennedy was assassinated, as was brought out by the expert on the question, the Dutchman Wim Dankbaar.

“If someone protects a terrorist, if someone supports a terrorist, if someone finances a terrorist, he is as guilty as the terrorist.” George Bush, August 26th 2003.

This terrorist, will he finally be tried for his crimes? Or will he continue to "sleep like a baby" unlike the child of Brenda Esquivel! This child was killed in the womb of his mother on the orders of Posada Carriles : « Destroy that seed before it grows » during a violent interrogation in July 1972 in Venezuela, on the premises of the DISIP.

What with his being under protection by people in high places, nothing is less sure!

In the meanwhile, our five Cubans, who fought against these crimes, continue rotting away in prison. Yet, it does not surprise us. We know that three prosecutors who participated in the trial against Gerardo Hernandez signed a text on February 14th 2011, indicating that the Luis Posada Carriles’s Attorney had offered them in 2011 "forms of assistance " to secure the conviction of Gerardo. Every day that passes renders this miscarriage of justice more and more unbearable.

In the name of their many friends throughout the world, I am again asking you, Mr President, to be deserving of your Nobel Peace Prize, by signing an executive clemency order that would, finally, give these five patriots back their liberty that they’ve been deprived of for more than twelve years.

Hoping for such a gesture on your part, please receive, Mr President, the expression of my most sincere humanistic sentiments.
