If Republicans Want An End To Questioning The Legitemacy of Their Elected Candidates...

Elections-Elected USA

I’m reserving judgement until all the results are in and all evidence reviewed, but in the mean time, I think we Democrats should start a voting machine manufacturing company, and start pursuing election and appointment of devoted Democrats in elections offices in every state, and organize crews to challenge Republican voters in every precinct in every state.

If the Republicans want votes that can be hacked, let’s go in open warfare mode and make sure we can disenfranchise as many Republican votes as they can Democratic votes. We have four years. Go to it. Either that or we get rid of all challengers and all voting machines that do not produce a paper ballot receipt for use in re-counts immediately.

If one party can F _ _ k true democracy in the A _ S with a barbed wire implement, then ALL parties should do it as agressively as possible. You don’t want bitching about the legitemacy of election results, then hold secure, free, verifiable, intimidation-free elections where every US citizen gets to vote, period. When you use methods that are shady and make it easy to cheat, expect accusations and investigations and mis-trust. This is precisely the fault of the parties responsible for setting up this farce of an election, be they Democrat or Republican.

Every piece of stinking brown organics that was involved in allowing this to happen this way should be incarcerated on Alcatraz with nothing but spam and canned vegetables, no salt, no pepper, for life without parole. If we had enacted and held truly fair elections that were secure and Bush had won, no one would be saying anything about the validity of his election. You still would hear a four year long groan emanating from half the country and most of the world for the next four years, but no one would be questioning the legitemacy of either his election or a Republican majority.

With what actually was done, EVERYONE should have been bitching out their politicians long before this election ever happened. What you and your party are being accused of is your own damn fault, and you are not getting out of it until we have proof you didn’t cheat and all methods of potential cheating are removed from the electoral process. You should be working to do so yourself - it could be YOU next election.

We need to:

1. Make it illegal NOT to vote, $1,000.00 fine unless you are hospitalized.

2. Make it impossible to cheat.

3. Make it a life sentence to intimidate, mis-direct, lie to, or otherwise attempt to block any citizen’s right to vote. Included in the life sentence is the permanent loss of the offender’s right to vote. The same sentence applies to anyonje falsely accusing another of violating this item.

4. Make the entire election week time off work unless you are a hospital, utility, fire, or election worker.

5. Require the media to give equal air time to each candidate for office at each level for free for the two months preceeding the election in return for the right to do business in this country.

6. Eliminate all requirements for a candidate running for office to be on the ballots other than age, citizenship, and not be a felon currently serving their sentence. (When you’ve served your time you can then run in the next election.)

The above should be made the next ammendment to the US constitution word-for-word. If these principles were followed we would have a true representative democracy and no one would be questioning the legitemacy of any electee. Anything less is treasonous hijacking of democracy.

  • Add: 7. Make it illegal to run a campaign ad of any type prior to two months ahead of the election. No recorded material from candidates unless it is the result of a live interview, and in that case the interviewer must interview every candidate for the same office with all of the same questions before the piece can be aired. 8. No one can donate one red cent to any candidate for office on pain of life in prison. Each candidate gets two million dollars or the equivalent in 2004 dollars from the US Treasury to run their campaign six months ahead of the election, and must return any unused funds to the US treasury of face felony theft charges. Anything over $2 mil, they pay out of pocket. --------- Dan

    • Just require all tv and radio stations that broadcast on our PUBLIC AIRWAVES to provide equal time to all candidates. This idea will never hit the mainstream media because they are the ones who ’earned’ that $1.2 billion spent on this campaign. Yet isn’t it such a simple and obvious solution- with free air time, a candidate could raise ZERO dollars and still win. Why should we give candidates taxpayer dollars to give to the lying media- we need to reclaim our public airwaves, not pay those who stole the airwaves from us.

    • See # 5. Require the media to give equal air time to each candidate for office at each level for free for the two months preceeding the election in return for the right to do business in this country. / The $2mil is to cover the cost of campaign staff, offices, & materials, transportation, etc. If they run out of money they either pay themselves or shut down. / Dan

    • bellaciao formatting tips for easier reading:

must hit enter twice to end a paragraph or put >br< tag at end of line (reverse arrows - ie replace with opposites)
make bulleted list like this by preceding sentence with hypen space

    • doh- make that hyphen (dash) next to + /= on keyboard

    • Looks like we should add: A citizen that can provide proper ID / proof of citizenship may vote for federal offices within any polling place in the nation, and state offices within any polling place in their home state. They may only vote for county and municipal offices within their home precinct.

  • also anyone who lies during campain, must devote equal time or space to appologize and tell the truth.

  • The poor democrats. They really have lost it...they’ve become communists. I think we should put them out of their misery and shoot each and every one of them before they join forces with the Chinese.

    • when you’re making the list of who to shoot, why not start with those so-called patriots who believe that the president derives his authortiy from God? Oh well maybe we shouldn’t shoot them but if we can’t educate them then maybe we can disenfranchise them. ;-)

    • Please don’t feed the troll.

  • Media and journalists in more than general are liberal and push their liberal platforms.

Kerry had drastically more support from the media and still lost.

3 and a half million votes were not fraudulent.

Getting out the vote just didn’t work for Kerry because for every new voter that went to Kerry you had more new voters who went for Bush.

Suck it up, and take it like a man, ironically as Kerry did.

    • It’s not about the last election anymore. This needs to be dealt with before another election happens. So Bush is president. You Republicans will rue the day in your own time, and know you were responsible for it. This goes beyond Bush & Kerry. That was last weeks’ news. We can’t afford a vote that’s suspect, period.

    • "We need to: 1. Make it illegal NOT to vote, $1,000.00 fine unless you are hospitalized."

This couldn’t work, and shouldn’t work, unfortunately— not just because the vast majority of Americans don’t know (and don’t care) about the issues or the rest of the world, but also because NOT voting is just as much of a privelege (and can be equally as powerful). Besides— that huge percentage of non-voters would be just as divided if they had to pick anyway.

I say, go with the opposite— pay $1,000 fine FOR voting if you can’t name your congressman, the Speaker of The House, or if you can’t define a Democrat or a Republican (etc, etc)... a fine for being ignorant. Make ’em pass a test, to determine whether or not they are qualified to decide who runs the country— if they fail, they don’t get to vote. I think Bush would have lost by a landslide if this were the case.

    • Alas, poll tests have been tried before, and the results weren’t exactly helpful to our side. Remember who has power in this country; if we give them any legal way to block people from voting, they’ll use it to their advantage.

Nor do I think you can punish people for not voting, as someone’s already pointed out. Even if you forced people to go to the polls, you couldn’t stop them from just flipping a coin. You can lead a horse to water, but you can’t make him think.

I could be wrong, but I don’t think that force and punishment is the answer to our current problems. That’s the other side’s approach, and if we accept it then we’ve lost the battle before we’ve even started.

    • Let them flip a coin or whatever, maybe if they get in practise they will eventually bother to look, meanwhile fine ’em the grand. Everyone should get off their ass and vote whether they like not. Besides, fining the idiots would help pay for Bushwack’s deficits.

    • Why should anyone bother to vote, voting is for suckers, and this last election is proof...it was probably rigged but who cares, we have a one party system anyway and those of us who do not vote 50% or more don’t vote because we are "lazy" we don’t vote because we do not trust the voting process and you should do like we do boycott elections and don’t pay any attention to them...it doesn’t matter who is the president the republicans and the democrats are all on the same team...if you notice Kerry conceeded the election before the votes were even counted, why? Because he had agreed to help get Bush another 4 years before hand and did not really want to win....he was just going thru the motions...the democrats in Washington did not object nor did any other government entity...because they are all on the same team...if all voters would just boycott the elections then maybe the process of government could change ...your "Representatives" do not represent you, they only represent big business and their own bank accounts......
