Democratic Underground Hacked?

Internet

The site is down for some "mysterious" reason. Apparently they are getting too close to the truth over there. Is there somewhere DUers can meet in a case like this?

  • I’ve just been on the site, after reading this. No problems. What were the circumstances you encountered?

There have been times when I am ’deep’ly involved in researching a ’ohmygod’ topic that something whacky happens that stops me flat; other times I may have recently mailed a letter to a person or institution that would horrify my right-wing family. I’ve been prone to wonder if the cause is more than ’coincidental’, figuring I’m in some kind of bounce-loop to disengage me, I can always get back on. On Sunday evening I experienced something while composing on this site using a different computer.

I really don’t care if it’s more than coincidence; I have to continue, for my own sense of well being.

Anyway, the site is up and running

    • re the email thing. I refuse to change my email. This is how people know me, and get in contact with me. I think when phony emails are sent out, "they", whomever "they" are, want me to change emails. I generally assume that the powers to be can read anything they want to anyway, so changing my email name would be pointless, and only serve to make it harder for others to get in contact with me. I keep the email to facilitate the activist contacts and networks, I’ve built over the past several year.

As for websites, indeed, as an editor with a left-wing site, though not the one mentioned here, we have had many mysterious "problems" and downtime.

    • The site seems to go down for an hour each evening since the election. Probably hackers trying to put a dent in the Democratic groundswell for the truth.
