Al-Anbar Province.

Al-Q’aim.

In a dispatch posted at 9:55am Thursday morning Mecca time, Mafkarat al-Islam reported that after failing on Wednesday night to storm the besieged city of al-Qa’im from four directions, US forces used loudspeakers on Thursday morning to demand tribal chiefs and some notables of the city to open negotiations with them at noon about the situation in the city.

The correspondent for Mafkarat al-Islam in the city reported that the Resistance called the tribal chiefs and notables to a meeting to discuss the American request.

Resistance sets conditions for talks with US over al-Qa’im as America admits it failed to take the city Wednesday night

In a dispatch posted at 7:35pm Thursday night, Mecca time, Mafkarat al-Islam reported from al-Qa’im that the US military recognized that it had failed on Wednesday to take the liberated city by storm. The American failure came despite a grueling day of fighting, first in the morning hours and then for three hours in the evening as American troops, 400 tanks, artillery, helicopters, and warplanes blasted and assaulted the city from four directions at once. The Resistance held out and repulsed the sweeping American assault of Marines and Commandos and in the end the US forces retreated beyond the limits of the city environs.

On Thursday Mafkarat al-Islam quoted a US major who said his name was “Steve Allen” of the Marines who said that they had not been able to take the city the night before due to the defiance and ferocity of the Resistance - whom he referred to as “gunmen” - and their determination in the fight. The American officer said that the US pulled its forces back “in the interests of the Iraqi civilians,” although no such humanitarian considerations entered Americans’ heads when they blew up the city’s water and food supply and when American snipers shot dead women and children trying to get water from the Euphrates River.

The Resistance on Thursday blasted concentrations of US troops outside the city with 32 various types of rockets - Katyusha, Grad, powerful Tariq missiles, and heavy motar rounds. The bombardment scattered the Americans’ lines to the north and east of al-Qa’im.

Meanwhile, a meeting of the Resistance in the city produced an agreement on a set of proposals that they would offer to the Americans as the basis of negotiations - in answer to the US call for talks made early in the morning. The Resistance agreed to hold talks with the Americans but on the basis of specific preconditions, namely:

1. US forces must withdraw six kilometers from the boundaries of al-Qa’im during the talks,

2. US fighter planes must stop overflights above the city,

3. The US must acknowledge the number of their men who were killed in the battles on Wednesday and Tuesday over all the radio stations,

4. The US must allow humanitarian organizations to bring food and medical supplies in to the residents of the city.

The correspondent reported that US forces had not responded to the demands of the Resistance as of the time that he filed his report. The city of al-Qa’im, therefore, remained in a state of relative calm - calm like a time bomb - as he put it, ready to explode whenever the Marines and Commandos decide to repeat their attack on the city.

Residents of the city expect that Resistance forces will take the initiative and attack concentrations of US troops before the latter attack al-Qa’im again.

Hit.

Resistance mounts two deadly barrages on US base in Hit early Thursday.

Iraqi Resistance forces mounted two rocket attacks on the US base in Hit Thursday morning, killing 18 US troops and wounding others. The source added that the less than three hours later the US headquarters came under attack again when the Resistance fired more than 10 mortar rounds into the American-occupied installation. One shell blasted an ammunition dump within the camp, causing a large explosion. Eleven US troops were killed in that attack, the source said.

Two big plumes of black smoke enveloped the area after a series of explosions, the correspondent reported witnesses as saying.

Eight American soldiers were killed and an undetermined number of others wounded.

The First Army of Muhammad Resistance organization posted a communiqué on doors of local mosques after the attack, saying that it was responsible for the attack.

Afterwards, US forces evacuated their dead and wounded and called in reinforcements to guard the wreckage of the two vehicles. They surrounded the area of the attack and prevented any journalists from taking pictures until cranes and trucks arrived to haul away the hulks of the wrecked vehicles to the US headquarters west of the city.

Baghdad.

Four US troops killed in afternoon bombing in Abu Ghurayb.

An Iraqi Resistance bomb exploded by an American armored vehicle that was stopped on Shaykh ad-Darri Street near north side of the notorious US prison camp Abu Ghurayb at 3pm local time Thursday afternoon.

After the blast, US forces surrounded the area and arrested a number of cart vendors in the area, charging that they knew about the bomb but did not warn the American invaders about it. US forces meanwhile called in military ambulances that took the American casualties inside the neighboring Abu Ghurayb prison camp.

Afternoon Resistance ambush leave nine US troops dead in ad-Durah.

Iraqi Resistance fighters attacked a daily routine US patrol proceeding down Sukkaniya Street Thursday afternoon in the southern Baghdad suburb of ad-Durah. Witnesses told Mafkarat al-Islam that the Resistance fighters fires fired four rockets at two of the Humvees in the patrol and then opened fire on the two vehicles with medium machine guns, destroying both and killing nine US troops aboard them.

The witnesses said that the Resistance scored direct hits on both vehicles, when they fired their rockets from about 300meters away in narrow alleys that lead to the main Sukkaniya street. After the attack the Resistance fighters quickly cleared out of the area.

The correspondent of Mafkarat al-Islam met a captain in the puppet so-called “rapid deployment force” who confirmed that the attack took place and said that nine US troops were killed and two vehicles destroyed. He also said that the attackers were able to get away after the ambush.

Thursday morning car bombs target puppet so-called “interior ministry.”

Two Iraqi Resistance car bombs exploded near the puppet so-called “interior ministry” in Baghdad on Thursday morning. A news bulletin from al-Jazeera satellite TV network reported that the blasts, in the al-Jadiriyah neighborhood of the capital killed 11 and wounded 20 puppet policemen by preliminary estimate. Later reports put the number of dead at 15.

Earlier in the morning Reuters reported that two explosions rocked the center of Baghdad near the Republican Palace area where the US invaders have their headquarters called the “green zone.” The Thursday morning explosions were immediately followed by gunshots, according to Reuters. Smoke was seen rising over the southwestern area of Baghdad near the entrance to the so-called “green zone.”

Early Thursday afternoon, Reuters reported that the Resistance organization Base Qa‘idah of the Jihad in the Land of the Two Rivers announced its responsibility for the two morning car bombings near the puppet so-called “ministry of the interior” in Baghdad. Reuters said that a statement published on the Internet said that a member of their organization attacked a patrol of the “infidel” police as it guarded the office of the “infidel” “minister.” Reuters said the communiqué reported that another member of the organization attacked the end of a patrol made up of nine cars.

At-Ta’mim Province.

Al-Basrah Province.

Al-Basrah.

Death threats issued for propaganda chief of puppet guards in al-Basrah.

Leaflets appeared in the southern Iraqi city of al-Basrah Thursday morning threatening death to Firas at-Tamimi, the propaganda spokesman for the puppet so-called “Iraqi national guard” in al-Basrah. The correspondent for Mafkarat al-Islam in the city reported that the threat was published in leaflets thrown into the streets of the city.

The threats, perhaps the first against commanders in the puppet “national guard,” followed statements at-Tamimi made after the puppet guard stormed the predominantly Sunni al-Ajbal district in al-Basrah on Sunday, 27 March 2005, in which he said that his forces had arrested four men whom he called “terrorists,” after raiding three houses. In fact, Mafkarat al-Islam reported, the puppet guard stormed 75 local houses and arrested 18 people.

At the time at-Tamimi said that his troops were carrying out an intentional campaign to defame the Sunni population, and his remarks were broadcast on some satellite networks, including the al-Hurrah propaganda network (which is based in Virginia, USA, but broadcasts in Iraq), and the so-called “al-‘Iraqiyun” network.

One of the aims of the Zionist-imperialist occupation of Iraq is the classic “divide and rule” imperial strategy. To facilitate this the Americans and their stooges seek to sow sectarian and ethnic discord in the country in order to try to produce only weak, feuding states in the Arab region that would be dependent on outside powers.

  • We hope this is true!

    Ami go home!

  • Good for the freedom fighters in Iraq, they need to help cull the future breeding stock in this country. Anyone stupid enough to be over there for Bushco should not be allowed to breed, we do not need anymore stupid people here we are full up.

    • Perhaps you should be more civil with your commentary, after all those are our brothers and sisters dying over there because they lived up to their obligations. Not so with Bush and his supporters (all war mongers) but none of whom have risked their lives by serving. They all apparentlt have "other priorities". Our troops should be brought home now. WAKE UP AMERICAN PATRIOTS OF ALL PARTIES!

  • If these numbers are real why aren’t the US public notified of all these soldiers dying?

    • These numbers may well be real but how can we as Americans know? Our dead are returned in the dead of night under heavy restrictions that prevent the news media, family members or the public from knowing how many of our people are being killed. Many deaths may be covered up because the Bush administration doesn’t want the real totals to be known because Americans might then demand an exit from Iraq. Combat deaths may be misrepresented as accidents or natural deaths when in fact they were killed by the Iraqi resistance. Deaths are also probably being concealed by not counting those who are medivaced from Iraq with servere wounds who later die in either Germany or the USA. The Bush administration is known for its "Lies" so why should we believe the numbers they spoon feed us? We must demand that the process be opened to the public, after all as Americans who are paying for this conflict we should know the truth about our war dead and we should be able to openly honor them upon their deaths. They should not be slipped back into the country as if they were garbage! WAKE UP AMERICAN PATRIOTS BEFORE ITS TOO LATE!

  • There is a huge disparity between the news reports Medialies is posting and the official Pentagon reports. E.g., with respect to al-Qa’im, the Pentagon has characterized this action as a "raid on a weapons-smuggling ring" during which NO U.S. deaths were reported. If the casualty figures are accurate, how will the U.S. military manage the news of these deaths? One possible way is to account for them as being caused by "accidents," particularly involving helicopter crashes since they are able to process numerous deaths with one "non-combat" incident.

    • As a veteran I would like to believe that our number of war dead is very low, but as a logical American I must question the Bush administrations secret return of our dead which leads me to believe that the death toll is much higher. If I and many others like me are wrong let the Bush administration prove it. Open up the process of returning our dead warriors, let us accurately know how many of these brave troops died after removal from Iraq with wounds, and how many are really dying in combat instead of fake accidents and natural deaths. Open the whole process from start to finish so that we (the taypaying public) can understand the true cost of this ill begun conflict and hold those responsible accountable. We deserve no less. This is not yet a dictatorship and if veterans like myself have anything to say about it it never will be!
      WAKE UP AMERICAN PATRIOTS!
