The past two political campaigns have been dominated by Rove. Al Gore had a stellar reputation before Rove got ahold of him. John Kerry and McCain too. The problem is that Rove can find some tenable characterization of Bush’s opponent and expand it, repeat it, and eventually the opponent becomes that caricature. It doesn’t matter whether Bush uses an earpiece, it’s whether its possible to convince the electorate that Bush needs an earpiece to debate and then start in with something else along the same line, then go back to the earpiece again, until finally, Bush becomes the caricature. I think its only fair that this be done to Bush so we can begin to talk about the distortions and out of context quotes from Kerry in the Bush ads.
