This is Insane. Don’t ever get scanned by TSA. While the application of scientific knowledge creates technology, sometimes the technology is later redefined by science. Such is the case with terahertz (THz) radiation, the energy waves that drive the technology of the TSA: back scatter airport scanners.
Emerging THz technological applications THz waves are found between microwaves and infrared on the electromagnetic spectrum. This type of radiation was chosen for security devices (...)

$100 ARM Computers Direct from China:Flooding US Market
There are hundreds of netbooks based on ARM processors, but they are all the same! If you didn’t know that, it’s because they are mostly in China — so far. They are about to flood the US markets with cheap computers, not much more, delivered to your door. Some are already in hole-in-the-wall electronics stores in New York and possibly other cities. This changes everything (in electronics, computers, and other (...)

Need proof that the economy is collapsing. Deflation of prices is a a sure sign. How about a computer for under a C-note?
If you want to see what your surroundings will look like in an economic depression, consider electronic gadgets "then", in the 1930s Great Depression, and now.
Back then, a radio was the must-have gadget, and makers came out with low-priced, low-performance so-called "midget" radios. Now comes a "depression era" computer or PC, the midget genre, (...)

Geomagnetic field: when will compass fail?
16:50 | 05/ 09/ 2008 MOSCOW. (RIA Novosti political commentator Andrei Kislyakov) - The recent trouble with the ISS, caused by simple computer virus capable of stealing logins and passwords for computer games only, was minor compared to possible environmental changes that could make space flights impossible. This could also cripple aviation and television, and even put terrestrial life at risk.
It’s about the Earth’s geomagnetic (...)

President Bush last week signed into law a bill which will see the federal government begin to screen the DNA of all newborn babies in the U.S. within six months, a move critics have described as the first step towards the establishment of a national DNA database.
Described as a "national contingency plan" the justification for the new law S. 1858, known as The Newborn Screening Saves Lives Act of 2007, is that it represents preparation for any sort of "public health (...)

Mobile phones could kill far more people than smoking or asbestos, a study by an award-winning cancer expert has concluded. He says people should avoid using them wherever possible and that governments and the mobile phone industry must take "immediate steps" to reduce exposure to their radiation.
The study, by Dr Vini Khurana, is the most devastating indictment (...)

March 17, 2008
At least 15 touch-screen voting machines that produced improbable numbers in Ohio’s 2006 statewide election are now under double-lock in an official crime scene. And the phony "Homeland Security Alert" used by Republicans to build up George W. Bush’s 2004 vote count in a key southwestern Ohio county has come under new scrutiny.
The touch-screen machines were locked up after Ohio’s new Democratic Secretary of State, (...)

The Rockets Red Glare By David Glenn Cox
The sky is falling, the sky is falling! Gosh, they really do think we’re stupid, all of us, not just the Fox viewers. Our protector, big bad bullyboy George, is going to protect us from an errant spy satellite. Its orbit is decaying and no mortal can judge where it might fall to Earth. Now considering that since the Earth’s surface is 2/3rds water, George thinks that, for safety’s sake, we (...)

Cyclical Evolution By David Glenn Cox
There once was a being named Orso, a sojourner among the galaxies. Then it came unto him the creatures that would destroy his faith in all that he held sacred. Creatures to whom reality was but a concept and to whom truth was but a belief and logic was what ever they said it was. Truth was to them like an ocean wave crashing on the shore; its validity would climb up onto the sandy beaches only to and just as certainly then to retreat back from where it (...)

there’s never been a time where it was more important for ordinary Americans to have an open conversation on the political situation in this country. If the vast majority of the country doesn’t get involved and quick, we may see the permanent end of the "middle class" in our lifetimes, and the irreversible loss of precious freedoms. Already, habeus corpus, the right to contest one’s detention in a court of law that has existed since the signing of the Magna Carta has been (...)

Computer story of 2007: Asus selling Eee PC at 2 per sec, $299. Bad sign for US industry.
1. Photo of Asus Eee has interface like no other.
First of all, this isn’t really bad news, as the US juggernaut needs to be slowed down. Don’t believe the Eee is big? Watch for it on Google News. You’ve heard similar things before, but this really is N-E-W-S. The $299 "Model T Ford" of computing has arrived — Asus Eee — and its Taiwan intro saw sales of 2 per (...)
