I found your article to be very well researched and well presented. I don’t think the abuses at Abu Ghraib can be examined without also considering Bush’s framing of the war in Iraq as ’good’ versus ’evil’, his insistence that aggression was justified no matter what the evidence shows, and his numerous efforts to find legal justification for torture. I have heard many people try to minimize the abuses by comparing them to Saddam’s abuses. How another’s misdeeds justify our own I cannot imagine.
