SARKOZY a wolf in sheep’s clothing?

10 December 2007, 08:28

Recently Sarkozy was compared to Reagan on this site and a poster insisted he’s no Reagan. That may be true, only in the sense that he’s worse than Reagan. At least Reagan wasn’t fortified with a bunch of bloody professors presribing neoimperiliastic wars and a group of civilian chickenhawks, going under the rubric, Neocons. Reagan was more traditionally conservative.

Sarkozy, who’s quite adept at appealing to the patriots defending "freedom" at any cost like a romantic mission, has picked his team behind closed curtains and he’s siding with W. You know what? Give us the old France - the France that hated American adventurism and recklessness - instead of this boot licker. The last thing in the world America needs now that its empire aims at conquering new "enemies" is a global ally supporting these follies.

France has traditionally played the role of antagonist and iconoclast in terms of America and that dialectic has worked pretty well. It at least kept the debate lively. Now that Sarkozy has jumped on board the USS Neocon, there’s no telling how long an attack on Iran will take. Already the right wing spin machines are working hard to discredit the NIE that stated Iran gave up its plans for nukes. Figure on March or April - always a good time to attack a country in or near the Middle East.

People of France, please let’s make a bargain. We’ll return to the habit of calling fries French Fries if you impeach this man and establish a ruler that has the moral legitimacy to oppose America’s foolish enterprises.
