Used to do this while playing partners pinocle, look for seemingly normal acts being repeated at certain times. Assuming Bush did have an earpiece, it is probable that they had a more sophisticated and/or hidden way of having Bush communicate back (if he could at all). A long shot, but to test it look at the video right after Bush got a question. Come to think about it Bush always paused to formulate answers, may be something in these moments.
