On quotes around "Christian".....well, actually, most historians would say that Paul invented the Christian relgion (before that one properly deals with the Nazarene or Ebionite sect of Judaism). The historical Jesus did not claim to be the messiah himself, but rather a prophet of the messiah. Paul insisted that salvation was based on faith alone, and that the humanity of one’s actions was not relevant.
