> Madrid Fire Re-opens 9/11 Questions: Why did the twin towers fall so fast?

It’s simple engineering. The building in Caracas was not a "tube" structure like the WTC, so comparing that to the WTC is ignorant at best. NOT ALL HIGH RISES ARE BUILT THE SAME !!! Comparing WTC to other skyscrapers that have experienced fires is not intelligent thinking, unless the other structures were also of the "tube" variety AND were slammed into by a jumbo jet at over 500mph. The WTC were designed to withstand the collision of a large commercial plane, LOST IN THE FOG OR LOW CLOUDS TRYING TO LAND AT EITHER JFK OR LGA. They were NOT designed to withstand the incredible force created by a jumbo jet traveling at over 500mph. There is a HUGE difference between the amount of force generated by an object traveling at 160mph and 500mph. It’s simple physics, which seems to be totally foreign to many of the posters here ! And this point alone seems to be overlooked with all the "fire" talk. It’s almost as if most people here would like to disregard the effects of the collision of the aircraft on both towers, and instead cry conspiracy and point only to the fires, conveniently disregarding the effect that the collision certainly had on the tower’s stability and overall strength. I recommend most of the people here to do some research on the building of the towers, so as to not come off as being so ignorant of the facts and understanding of the architecture that enabled those buildings to stand in the first place.

The only "controlled demolition" at the WTC site was WTC7.
