"I don’t believe for a second that Bush is as heartless or cynical as you make him to be. Personally, I suspect he agonizes internally over the fact that Americans are dying to help the Iraqis, and I can’t imagine he is not sincere when he offers condolences to the families of fallen soldiers.
I also believe Bush feels equally for innocent Iraqis who were hurt or killed as a result of the liberation effort. But he understands that no democracy has ever been founded without violence, and that the sacrifices made today will be worth it if Iraq becomes a free democracy."
