al qaida isn’t "giving" anyone anything accept the the big "fu". they know the usefulness of dividing the west in two with tactics like this. there will be more verbal jousting between the liberal and the conservative over the worth of this battle. eventually, once radical persia causes enough chaos around the world, the ranks of the well intended but undoly sympathetic pacifist will begin to deminish and we will be able to get on with the unpleasant but neccessary business at hand.
