> US Troops told to ignore Opium Crop that is now more than 1/2 Afghan GDP

21 January 2006, 19:32

I find it interesting that the effective, if barbaric, opium irradication program instituted by the Taliban in Afghanistan coincided with the equity market collapse in the United States. All that drug money has to go somewhere. Furthermore, "Caribbean Banks" are increasingly buying US debt at the Treasury Bond Auction every month, helping fill the 2 billion/month need.

Business as usual. War on Drugs, yeah.
