Al-Qaeda gives European states month to quit Iraq

Abu Hafs al-Masri Brigades warn European nations to face London-style attacks if they do not quit Iraq.

By Habib Trabelsi - DUBAI

The Al-Qaeda terror network warned European nations to pull their troops out of Iraq within a month or face more attacks like the deadly London bombings, according to an Internet statement.

"This message is the final warning to European states. We want to give you a one-month deadline to bring your soldiers out from the land of Mesopotamia (Iraq)," said the statement signed by Al-Qaeda group the Abu Hafs al-Masri Brigades and dated July 16.

After August 15, "there will be no more messages, just actions that will be engraved on the heart of Europe.

"It will be a bloody war in the service of God," said the statement, the authenticity of which could not be verified.

"It’s a message we are addressing to the crusaders who are still present in Iraq — Denmark, the Netherlands, Britain, Italy and those other countries whose troops continue to criss-cross Iraqi territory.

"These are our last words. The mujahedeen, who are on the lookout, will have other words to say in your capitals."

A statement issued in the name of the "Europe Division" of the same Al-Qaeda group claimed responsibility for the July 7 bombings on London’s public transport system which killed at least 56 people and wounded some 700.

The same group also claimed the 2004 train bombings in Madrid and the 2003 attacks in Istanbul.

"After the laudable strikes that have shaken London and the cities of other Crusaders still present in Iraq, we have renewed the ultimatum that we had given," the statement said.

"We give you all one month to reflect carefully on your policy towards Islam and Muslims.

"We’re giving you this deadline so that you stop running behind the United States and the Zionists, without paying attention to the blood that has been shed and continues to be shed in the land of Islam — in Iraq, Afghanistan and Palestine."

The statement came amid intense debate in Britain over the role the 2003 invasion of Iraq played in spurring the four British suicide bombers to carry out the deadly attacks.

In a Guardian/ICM poll published Tuesday, two-thirds of respondents said they saw a link, while three-quarters said they considered further attacks likely.

But the government of Prime Minister Tony Blair has continued to deny that the war left Britain more vulnerable to terror attacks, despite a damning report from the respected think-tank, the Royal Institute of International Affairs.

The Abu Hafs al-Masri Brigades take their name from an Al-Qaeda commander killed during the US-led invasion of Afghanistan in October 2001.

  • al qaida isn’t "giving" anyone anything accept the the big "fu". they know the usefulness of dividing the west in two with tactics like this. there will be more verbal jousting between the liberal and the conservative over the worth of this battle. eventually, once radical persia causes enough chaos around the world, the ranks of the well intended but undoly sympathetic pacifist will begin to deminish and we will be able to get on with the unpleasant but neccessary business at hand.

  • AL-Qaeda is not an organization! It is a symbol for angry muslims! Muslims who have suffered losses in relatives and property due to weird western policies.
9/11 was not even planned or initiated by AL-Quaeda! This groups consists of very well educated young angry muslim men and therefore this makes them very dangerous.

The west is now obliged to reach for the east and for those who live in poverty. But instead we hear so called sunday speeches.
I don’t believe that there will be terrorists attacks in Germany or France. This countries are hosts for the largest muslim communities. To plant hatred like the American government does is just not the right answer.

    • weird western policies?!?! get real! what makes these angry muslim men dangerous are weird policies like these...

    • Fooling who? You are fooling people with old recitations!

    • Wow, Dave, I am impressed!!!

You seem to have a vast archive of quites from "them". If, in fact, if these are real and attributalbe to "them" and you have collected them... Then it means that you are a ringer blogger.

I’ve heard and read that the Penagon has set up blogs and bloggers to joust; and you style is most familiar to someone I knew some 10 years back...

If you do not have this archive of quotes then you are blowing wind... Either way, you seem to have a lot of anger and frustrations. Which on some level is a good thing. i hope your anger and frustrations build and build... Then perhaps you will stop blogging...

    • i guess it is kind of underhanded. afterall, here you guys are just slaving away at making up all of your theories as you go along and then i come along and quote documented history and everything. man the nerve of some people.

    • Hey Dave: BLOW IT OUT YOUR ASS....

    • awe geeze, yer cryin’.

  • On a pure technical analysis, if Al-Qaeda were to act like CIA-MI6, they could be far more deadlier and potently effective. What interferes with such potency is their haphazard organization, and poor choice of venues. Thank god for their lesser intellect for otherwise we all be urinating in our sleep. That said, CIA_MI6-FBI are not doing their job. Isn’t it fun to watch western economies being uprooted, and actually the venues of war (psychological) are changing. It is time for US to use nuclear weapon, but how can they? which country they hit? Iraq? Syria? Iran? North Korea? or China? USA and its gang is getting cornered — first in World opinion, secondly getting targetted for tit-for-tat response...any type. Sadly, we are too much occupied with one or two dozen deaths in Israel, and aren’t focusing on a possible war looming between Taiwan and China, and US is behaving like a British Constable — without power. Six weeks after 2008 Olympics, China sends People’s Liberation Army to defend itself against the American flotilla near South China Sea. I hope some peace prevails in South Asia and Africa, as I surely hope terroism rise in UK and US. Just enough to deprive them sleep. Other maladies will kill as a side effect.

  • Mr Trabelsi - I am hoping Dubai will also declare war on Anti-semitism.
