Democracy USA Canada-Québec UK

I live in Canada where the government is about to collapse because of corruption.

I see in Britain that it is almost certain that Blair lied about Iraq.

I look to Washington and am revolted.

Is democracy dying? If not, from where will the leadership with World vision come?

  • Here’s a tricky question... Who is the best ’leader’ in the world ??
It’s difficult isn’t it. The first ’leaders’ that spring to mind evoke ...corruption, liars, power hungry autocrats, war mongers, despots, fakes, fawning to other ’leaders’. Yet as citizens we have become conditioned to seek ’leadership’. Oh. people say, ’’without ’leaders’ we’ll have anarchy’’ having no idea of the notion of anarchy apart from news items about looting.

Our ’leaders’ once bestowed with power over other humans destiny, somehow believe, either consciously or subconsciously that they are ’better’ than the average mortal, and make absurd decisions on our ’behalf’.

In this 21st century, I don’t think it is beyond the comprehension of human kind to have TRUE democracy WITHOUT ’leaders’ or ’gods’. The first step would be a 180 degree turn from their ’elections’ and replace with mass, or local, voting on issues that matter to us, eradicating their mandate to ’rule’us.

  • Well the US is suppose to be a Republic, but it has moved to a corporate democracy, which is a nice word for socailism.

I still think the UK has the cleanest of what’s out there. At least even the poor and middle classes, average Joes and Janes can be in government. They are only allowed x amount of tv time and it’s free (imagine that Americans!!!!!!!!!!!!), they are not allowed to spend above xyz in ads in papers, tv (excluding BBC of course being there is no commercails), etc. BUT they have the non elected House of Lords.

I don’t know honestly, at least in Malaysia and Moscow, you know what you have socialism. Whereas tons of "democracy" won’t come out and say it.

  • for over 30 years there are many global citizens who have been practicing "life without leaders" ... we have called them rainbow gatherings ... as i type one of our "original" gatherers is in Federal Prison in America for exercising the right of the people to freely assemble in the USA ...

we have proved to ourselves beyond a shadow of a doubt that we do not need leaders, we need cooperation and respect and when we give it to each other, the gather is fantastic ... when the Federalies bring in their undercover operators ... all "hell" breaks out and still, we (those of us who really know one another) are able to hold it "reasonably" together inspite of the intentional disruption of the undercover people ...

what i have experienced in the people’s experiment with anarchy ... or leaderlessness (?) is that it works in an amazing unpredictable way ... over the years we have only had to turn over a few pediphiles and one or two woman beaters ... and send very few down the road from a specific gathering, with the message that they can return, but we’ll be watching for them ... and their future behavior ...

i am sure that is why the Federal Prison for exercising the right of the people to freely assemble... the threat of an example that works ...

the undercover people have gone so far as to put bags of feces rocked down in the water sources and infect us with various disease ... so our "loose" vibes lay us wide open for their dirty tricks, and still we will gather ... helps us to see first hand how life could be ... without the "weapon makers" and "money changers"

    • We never had a democracy in this country to begin with. We have a "representative" republic. There is not now and never was a democracy here where the citizens have a direct election and a direct say in the affairs of government. The idea of a democracy has been sold to the citizens here as a nice way for us to all fantasize. So as to the question of a democracy dying, there never was one, and if the elite have their way there never will be one in the USA.

    • It’s true: we never had a democracy in Canada.

My home community, in rural Nova Scotia would do much better if it were left to govern itself, without provincial or federal interventions. The government of Canada only paves the way for socially- and environmentally-irresponsible natural resource industry. Rural communities depend on the land for their livelihood, and they could use the help of the Canadian government to protect them from powerful (often USA-based or European-based, but also homegrown) natural resource industries.

Canada needs the weight of the law to defend the land and the people who live off it.

  • I don’t agree. Canada has not yet caught the American/British illness! And corruption in Canada, I don’t think it is so bad. The parlament is still in control and there is no sign of American mindsets like let them do it even if it is wrong!

Canada is not yet in the hand of fascists like America and Britain!

    • Because of corruption,Canada’s government will fall within 2 weeks.Type "Gomery Commission"into a search engine!
