Why vote if you only have two bad choices?

I did read that before Dan. But your wrong about all those people being "lazy" most just think it makes NO difference who wins, and in some respects they’re right! I believe most of them are not lazy, just figure money buys off BOTH candidates and in reality, 80% of time it does! I swear sometimes, I think I might not vote either for same reasons but then I do! Question Dan, IF both candidates are bought off, why vote? If both candidates when push comes to shove vote the same way because of getting bought off by Big Business, where is competition and WHY vote?

 And I wrote:
Simple. You force them to keep the macinery in place and do everything you can to get not-bought-off candidates in place. The more people that vote, the more peoplre that will be involved in the political process, and then it becomes harder and harder for them to pull the bullshit shirt over people’s eyes because a majority of the population is at least to some degree paying attention, THAT’s why. You make it that much harder for the assholes to do what assholes do - lay shit bombs on the country. Bush has had diahrea for years because people are just buying the Bullshit brand of smell and don’t know any better. If they go vote they have incentive to look for something they feel like voting for, and even if you pick the lesser of two evils eventually the evil will get dilluted.

  • Until big corporations are taken out of the picture, the biggest lobbiest, and the bankers stop hand picking the candidates, there is no need to vote. We have purchased dictatorships. The two party system has become an acting forum and nothing more. The wealthy rule the WORLD!

    • Big corporations and bankers can no more be taken out of the capitalist system than the sun from the sky.
You’ll need to look in another direction.
      cheers, jt.

    • Let’s vote and change that. Call your president, senators, representatives and let them know your position every time or when you don’t like the way they represent you. By getting involved every time we can change something. The more votes and calls the better. Do the same to the media - newspapers, tv news stations when you see they don’t cover what you think is more important than they cover or the way they cover it. Let’s get more involved at all levels and let your voices be heard out and loud. That’s the only way to do something our way. Because of this pasive and lazy way bush and co., took advantaje and stole the elections, not once but twice.

The reason why corporations should be stricktly regulated, and should not be allowed to manipulate the regulator. The regulator is the government, and not only is there a powerfull corporate lobby, but we actually have corporate people in the government.

      ==============

"In 1776 we declared independence not only from British rule, but also from the corporations of England that controlled trade and extracted wealth from the US (and other) colonies. Thus, in the early days of our country, we only allowed corporations to be chartered (licensed to operate) to serve explicitly as a tool to gather investment and disperse financial liability in order to provide public goods, such as construction of roads, bridges or canals.
After fighting a revolution for freedom from colonialism, our country’s founders retained a healthy fear of the similar threats posed by corporate power and wisely limited corporations exclusively to a business role. These state laws, many of which remain on the books today, imposed conditions such as these:

A charter was granted for a limited time.
Corporations were explicitly chartered for the purpose of serving the public interest - profit for shareholders was the means to that end.
Corporations could engage only in activities necessary to fulfill their chartered purpose.
Corporations could be terminated if they exceeded their authority or if they caused public harm.
Owners and managers were responsible for criminal acts they committed on the job.
Corporations could not make any political contributions, nor spend money to influence legislation.
A corporation could not purchase or own stock in other corporations, nor own any property other than that necessary to fulfill its chartered purpose."

  • Big Corporations and bankers are to be controled by the people and not the other way around. Thank you!

  • The old saying has always been "if you don’t vote don’t bitch"
I say bull----t!!If you pay taxes you have every right to bitch!
These fat cats are spending all my money and yours too.

    • If paying your taxes and bitching works that’s great, Bill Gates and the boys couldn’t care less.
Do you have friends that hang in there to listen or is it a solo therapeutic exercise from which you derive satisfaction.?
      cheers, jt.

  • The American political system constitues no democratic process. It is more like the structure the Romans had. Concentrating to much power in one institution - the presidency - has turned out to be a bad choice. Other democracy - like Switzerland - allow their citizens to vote on issues or give them the power to vote out the government at any time.

The American constitution has the myth of democracy. The founders of this country owned slaves! Segration and denial of women vote stayed longer then in any other country.

But Americans have choices. The Greens the Socialists are parties which should be given power, in order to keep balance. By the way that is common practice in all countries which consider themselves as democratic. Opposition is the salt of democracy. Just getting something done even is wrong is a no accomplishment.

    Try to think about it.

    • We need third party candidates, and to help build strong opposition to the two/one party system that is sharing power at the expense of free elections and independent representatives....we see already that the Republicans and Democrats DO NOT REPRESENT the needs of the CITIZENS of the U.S...they need to be taken from the power that WE GRANT THEM...they are supposed to be working for us not. We need to demand an end to bribery in the form of campaign donations. Unfortunately only one third of U.S. housholds own a computer....and we already know that the internet is the best way to give power to the people.......in the mean time it is up to those of us that stay informed about what the government is doing behind our backs and spread the word to all that have no access to independent information. It is up to us to bring about the changes because for sure the government will continue gouging the public for the special interest groups they are beholding to.

    • The best approach is by not voting, not paying taxes (or quietly cheating on them as most good patriotic Americans do), own as many guns as possible and stop watching that damn boob tube!

    • I agree 100%. If you vote it won’t make a difference because the electronic voting apparatus will only count as it’s been programmed. Would the assholes at the top get the message that the people are restless if only 2% turned out for an election?

    • Two things. First, do you have any idea how much it costs to get on the ballot? That alone makes a candidate beholden to monied interests unless he/she has broad grassroots support. Second, how much longer will the Net be as free as it is today?

    • Switzerland’s democracy works, and works well, because the politicians still have to listen to the people in order to stay in power. Add to that the fact that all ballots, referenda and other voting are done by paper or, in the smaller cantons, by show of hands! It’s easy then to see what the majority is.

    • bla bla bla
I don’t vote period. WHY!!! the global elite controll it all. Politicians are just like shit paper in a bird cage they just replace them with anouther. Democracy in this country is dead until we wake up and turn the damn boob tube off it will never change. Americans are too stupid to realize any of this so this shitty world will continue to turn as is.
