Most of you will have read Would Sumate stand by and allow their fellow citizens to be contaminated? and, if you have not, I strongly urge you to do so. In this piece I wrote in great detail concerning the effects of depleted uranium and the devastating effects it has on American soldiers as well as innocent civilians.

I do not only mention Iraq, but other countries as well where this deadly weapon has been used.

As tensions rise between Venezuela and the United States, true danger looms, especially after Venezuela expelled US naval captain John Correa on charges of espionage (for trying to get Venezuelan officers to hand over state secrets). After he was expelled, the US State Department declared a senior Venezuelan diplomat persona non grata and gave her 72 hours to leave the United States. The Venezuelan embassy’s chief of staff, Jenny Figueredo Frias will now have to leave ... although she is not cited as being a spy. This is tit-for-tat politics on the part of the United States ... they did so to retaliate against the Venezuelan government.

Correa, should thank his lucky stars that he is now back in the United States instead of being tried for espionage.

There is a real possibility, should tensions continue to rise, where we can do the same to Venezuela as we have done in Iraq ... especially when reading: Rumsfeld Offers Strategies for Current War. There, Rumsfeld cites: "The United States is engaged in what could be a generational conflict akin to the Cold War, the kind of struggle that might last decades as allies work to root out terrorists across the globe and battle extremists who want to rule the world" Who’s to say that Venezuela will not be the target given our current situation? This article states that we (United States) can be engaged in war fare for 20 years.

While they may call it a "Cold War," I would liken it to a "Hot War" ... I thought that the future would hold out hope, but given the current climate, I see only despair.

While Rumsfeld also likened Osama bin Laden to Hitler (as he just did with President Chavez), I ask Rumsfeld: Where is Osama bin Laden? We want him!
President Chavez is far from being seen by many as a bin Laden or a Hitler ... President Chavez has not systematically killed any one and the world better see that as fact.

Robert E. Hunter, senior adviser at Rand Corp. said: "Dealing with the issue of terrorism and extremism is going to take a long time ... but we have to define success ... you’re never going to get rid of all terrorism."

No, we are not going to get rid of terrorism completely, and for anyone to think that, they’re living in a bubble. I would even be as bold to say that the United States has got to change the way we do business around the world since it has been a factor in many blow backs.

I find it pretty extreme that we can use such a deadly weapon as depleted uranium in warfare, not only putting American soldiers at risk, but innocent victims.

I would call that terrorism to use a this weapon that has a half-life is approximately 4.5 billion years.

If you truly want to see a devastating video on the effects of DU, I strongly suggest that you watch the following — but I add, no children should view this: Poisonous Legacy ... this is what I fear we can use throughout the world if, as the article alleges, we can be at war for the next twenty years.

Or worse yet, nuclear weapons that will eclipse the ones used in Hiroshima and Nagasaki ... let’s not forget that as we make rumblings of war towards others that have nuclear stockpiles.
My greatest fear for the people of Venezuela is, that if things continue to worsen: We just may use DU there as well. Also given that the current Bush administration’s lust for war is evident in the news video Bush and Blair Build Up to Iraq War which speaks of both Bush and Blair building their case to go to war in Iraq using deceptive practices.

This is the smoking gun that Iraq was truly not a threat to us.

We must also remember that Venezuela which is a pacifist country is not a threat to the United States.
Please remember that we scolded Venezuela for spending $2 billion on weapons to protect their nation ... compare that to our (USA) defense budget, which is now over $400 billion dollars.

While we have thousands of nuclear and depleted uranium warheads, Venezuela has none.
