February 23, 2006 — Add two more U.S. ports to Bush-Dubai deal. In addition to the ports of New York, New Jersey, Philadelphia-Camden, Balitmore, Miami, and New Orleans being taken over by Dubai Ports World, add two military contracts that are held by the company — Peninsular and Oriental Steam Navigation Co. (P&O Co.) that has been purchased by the Dubai firm. The two contracts, let by the United States Surface Deployment and Distribution Command, provide stevedoring [loading and unloading] of military equipment at the Texan ports of Beaumont and Corpus Christi through 2010. Almost half of the U.S. Army’s sea cargo for Iraqi operations is handled by the two ports.

  • Geez, Whitey is spooked!!!

Tell me why now Whitey denies or otherwise puts up barrierrs to his "Free Trade" practice. How can Whitey reconcile this?

But more to the point, is the security of these ports and the cargo that transits through them now the responsibility of the companies that own and or operate the crains, ships, truck-dollies? What about all the containers coming from around the world, is each country where the containers originated, are they responsible for the secutiry of that container at the point of ladding?

Is the security of these ports handled by the companies now operating them? Does/has CSX, LMX, Burlington, Babbage, Hamilton, among others who operate at these ports and others in the U.S. inspect and or clear the contents of these inbound and outbound seafaring containers?

If the Maktum owned DP World purchase goes through, will the land belonging to the port authorities transfer to Dubai? Because of this purchase, will the longshoremen no longer be Americans?

Are any of these questions occuring to the spooked Whitey, or is he just looking and reacting to the skin color, name or ethnic makeup of the potential new owners?

As a related aside, P&O is/was a 150 year old British firm that will transfer their operations in England, the Far East and other places to DP World, why has there not been such a spooked reaction in those countries?

  • I don’t get it - with the Bush administration doing everything it can to destroy America, why do U.S. troops continue to follow this traitor’s "leadership" overseas?

Given all the controversy in Afghanistan and Iraq, I would think from the enlisted man’s perspective of fighting middle-eastern "terrorists", the news of Bush turning over 21 ports to foreign Saudi control would be seen as total betrayal and a stab in the back.
