Elections-Elected Governments USA

Today a new CNN poll revealed what to me is a shocking fact; only 4% of the electorate find ethical behavior in the U.S.government a major issue!

This is outrageous!

Does the public care about fining Halliburton, KBR and other nefarious lawbreaking Iraq contractors for their disgusting actions against the Iraqis and American taxpayers? NO!

Does the public care or wonder about what happened to 8.8 billion dollars of reconstruction money for Iraq? NO!

Does the public care about the OVER ONE TRILLION DOLLARS which "vanished" from the Pentagon..and was never recovered? NO!

Does the public care about the probable kickbacks in the military-industrial complex? NO!

Does the public care about what Abramoff and other lobbyists did and how sleazy the response is/was from our pathetic Congress? NO!

Does the public care that Bush and Cheney "outed" Valerie Plame Wilson for revenge? NO!

This is frankly nothing less than unbelievable! How can the American voter look at himself in the mirror every day? Instead, all we seem to care about is gas prices, immigration and the price of a good cigar.

I give up. And it looks like my fellow countrymen have as well!

One more thing: Does the public care about Bush’s lies and deceptions to wage war with Iraq..and quite possibly soon with Iran? Apparently not!...that’s why Iran WILL be next.

  • This new kind of capitalism doesn’t know anything about ethics - just bribe and theft. And really the U.S. are accusing other countries in handling oil for food for Iraq?

    • Your friends in the UN will cover up OIL for Food just like the KENNEDY media will cover up the KENNEDY CRASH in the US CAPITOL!!!!

  • More than likely the average American does not understand what the word "ethics" means. How often is the word used on "American Idol" or "Desperate Housewives?" You can’t answer a survey about a concept that you don’t understand. Pass me another beer, would you?

  • The problem is that you are part of the problem: you were the one watching and believing something you heard on CNN! If CNN says 4%, it must be true. Right?
Just like the other day when a guy standing in line ahead of me informed me that the American economy was "good". Where do you think he got that information? He sure as hell didn’t get it from the internet.
Americans don’t care BECAUSE they watch TV. They believe what their televisions tell them and act accordingly. "National News" doesn’t offer anything that can be believed anymore simply because of what they don’t report. How can the american public have any outrage when they’re not getting the information they need to get outraged? "Local News" is all about fresh disaster murder and mayhem, hourly reminders that all is not well with the world. The reaction to all the bad news? "I don’t want to think about it!" "Entertain me!" "Make me forget what’s really going on."
What DO Americans care about? Try: how much more money they can make and how good they look. How else can deliberately making the decision to buy a Hummer be explained? I suspect that the people who do the most good and who DO care are the ones who don’t have time for TV. My cure for apathy? Turn off the TV. Period! I’ve only had mine off for a month, and it was hard at first but I never get caught believing the lies anymore. And there’s a new sense of freedom too.

    • You are absolutely correct, but I just found the number, true or entirely fictitious, astonishing and worth commenting on. I don’t do more than take a quick peek at CNN, and don’t watch anything else on networks except the first half-hour of Olbermann on MSNBC.

Our televsion media news is slanted right, left, up, down, every way but HONEST. True, the "real" people investigate news "stories" on the internet. How else did I ever find Bellaciao? I thank you profusely for your erudite comments. Villy
