While Bush and the GOP were off hunting ghosts, North Korea waved hello

Well it seems now that Senator John McCain has jumped on the bandwagon non-accountability as he blames the latest North Korean nuclear test on Bill Clinton. At some point it is up to the American people to start holding the GOP accountable and it is my hope that it will come soon. The GOP acts collectively like a child saying, “No, Mom, I did not do it, he did.” It seems like every thing that goes wrong within the Bush administration for not keeping their eye on the ball, the blame must always be cast on former President Bill Clinton. If Bush and the GOP did not like the Clinton plan, then it was up to them period to address it and keep their focus on North Korea instead of letting them get away with testing a nuclear device.

As I read the news this morning, I was horrified as I read, that North Korea threatens war against the US. The AP reported that North Korea, “warned on Wednesday that increased U.S. pressure over the regime’s reported nuclear test could be considered an act of war,” It also reported that North Korea would conduct more testing given the United States “hostile attitude”

As the United States has been chasing ghosts in Iraq stating that they had weapons of mass destruction, the Bush administration dropped the ball when the AP reported, “North Korea said it could respond to U.S. pressure with "physical" measures.”

Let us all go back in history in which both Scott Ritter and Hans Blix stated that Iraq did not have weapons of mass destruction as they continued to inspect Iraq for them. But, no this administration that gets to decide everything did not listen to them. In fact the entire GOP party decided that engaging and supporting a war of lies was more important than focusing on North Korea and yes Russia. Let us not forget that under Bush’s watch, Russia was once again building up the arms race through the production of Topol M missiles that have the ability to get past our security systems.

What should scare every one in this country is when the North’s Foreign Ministry said in a statement carried by the official Korean Central News Agency that this country with proven weapons of mass destruction would, “regard it as a declaration of war and will take a series of physical corresponding measures,"

Instead of addressing this growing threat which by all means looks like an imminent threat to our safety and security, Bush along with the GOP was off hunting ghosts in Iraq. Bush was avenging his father’s failure at removing Saddam from power when he had the chance.

As Bob Woodward stated in the Sixty Minutes interview with Mike Wallace he had this to say of the Bush administration, “That for the last three years, the White House has not been honest with the American public." Let me add to Woodward’s assessment that the Bush administration has refused all accountability as well and will always point the finger of blame back to Clinton using their GOP cronies.

What has this administration done in the past five years since 9/11? It has engaged us in a war of lies, which again was never given a formal declaration of war by the US congress. As a result this horrifying news report came out this morning stating that 655,000 Iraqis died in this war based on lies. A few months ago, Bush stated his numbers were 30,000; this far exceeds the numbers given to us by Bush.

As I stated in a VHeadline.com article, “The truth should and must mean everything when it comes to the toll taken on human lives. That includes both our soldiers and innocent Iraqis. Also let us not leave those that have died in Afghanistan. The soldiers fighting in that country as well as Afghani citizens mean as much as those lost in Iraq.

The AP reported: “An accurate count of Iraqi deaths has been difficult to obtain, but one respected group puts its rough estimate at closer to 50,000. And at least one expert was skeptical of the new findings.”

The AP also reported: “Anthony Cordesman of the Center for Strategic & International Studies in Washington stated: "They’re almost certainly way too high," He then had the nerve to say, and that these numbers were released to influence the November 7th elections. He even stated, “This is not analysis, this is politics”

What ever the exact toll is and will be the fact remains that these innocent people died as a direct result of Bush’s lies and the lies supported by the GOP.

Perhaps McCain’s blaming of Bill Clinton can best be found in this MSNBC article which states,“A Washington Post-ABC News poll on Tuesday showed registered voters favoured Democratic candidates over Republican candidates in House races by 54 per cent to 41 per cent, an advantage matched in several other new studies of public opinion.”

This same article goes onto report: “While the national polls do not predict the outcome of individual races, they do reflect a growing sense of crisis facing Republicans.” I would think that this frightens the GOP as the results of this poll reflect Bush’s handling of Iraq and as the article cites of it that a strong majority states it was a war, “not worth fighting.”

In this era of non-accountability in which the Bush/GOP government looks to blame former President Bill Clinton, one wonders what a newer poll would say concerning North Korea’s testing of a nuclear device and threats of war against us would be.

If America cowers again by letting their votes be Roved and McCained, then we are in fact headed for future disasters.
