Bush has no right to be called Commander in Chief

President Bush just does not get it especially as one reads Bush says U.S. won’t pull out of Iraq. This mad man states, "There’s one thing I’m not going to do, I’m not going to pull our troops off the battlefield before the mission is complete," Your illegal mission, President Bush was set to fail right from the beginning since there is NO WINNING the war on terrorism. Besides that, any terrorist act suffered by the American people on September 11th, did not come from Iraq and it is about time that you stop lying to the American people.

The civil war that has now reared its ugly head within Iraq is not the fault of Al-Qaeda, but the terrorist organization in which you are a part of and that is the Neo-conservative movement that set its sights on world domination.

You, President Bush are most certainly living in a state of denial when you said, "We can accept nothing less than victory for our children and our grandchildren." What victory will we see? We shall see none until a rational president takes charge of the United States and when you leave the office of the President of the United States.

Exactly what victory can we see when we are now fast approaching 3,000 American soldiers dead and I want to reiterate the words of Senator John F. Kerry in which he said, “Who will be the last soldier to die for a mistake”

What victory can we see as we have used one of the deadliest agents known to man kind known as depleted uranium on a guiltless people? There is no victory to be seen as children are killed or born with birth defects coming from your hands, President Bush. Think of the anger that will be directed at us for years to come through the use of this agent. This is your legacy, President Bush and you must remember that and own it as well.

When the AP reported “Bush pushed back against skeptics of his goal of spreading freedom across the Middle East.”I understand these doubts but I do not share them," Has it even entered your mind, President Bush that when one holds a belief that goes against the belief of many, what they are telling you is that they do not share your beliefs and are tired of being dictated to. The Arab world has every right to doubt anything coming from your administration since you have far surpassed the number of Americans killed on September 11th, 2001. You went into hyper drive and where your response was not a proportionate response.

I often wonder if there will be a blow-back affect in which as a result of your war of lies, innocent Americans will become the target in this land as you have targeted innocent Iraqis abroad. At this point, I suppose many within our country no longer feel safe with your iron-fist rule.

When you said, "Defeating them will require the full commitment of our alliance," At this point, it is time that any alliance you have built in targeting an innocent people, leaves you hanging. This civil war is yours and yours alone.

The only rational thinking is coming from Jordan’s King Abdullah, when he warned “that the new year could dawn with three civil wars in the Mideast - with one in Iraq added to those already ongoing in Lebanon and between the Palestinians and Israelis.”

While I am not a fan of military coups, in the interest of national security, one would hope that our military would turn on you, President Bush, Vice President Cheney, outgoing Secretary of Defense Donald Rumsfeld and Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice and arrest all of you. After all, their brethren have suffered at the hands of you. You have no right to be called Commander in Chief of the United States military because many of them have died because of your lies.

  • The "coup" has already taken place Ms. MacElveen. Below is an excerpt from Eisenhower’s famous and prescient 1961 speech, wherein he warns the American people of the growing threat of the "Military/Industrial Complex."

PS: Take a writing course. Your prose needs work.

"A vital element in keeping the peace is our military establishment. Our arms must be mighty, ready for instant action, so that no potential aggressor may be tempted to risk his own destruction.

Our military organization today bears little relation to that known by any of my predecessors in peacetime, or indeed by the fighting men of World War II or Korea.

Until the latest of our world conflicts, the United States had no armaments industry. American makers of plowshares could, with time and as required, make swords as well. But now we can no longer risk emergency improvisation of national defense; we have been compelled to create a permanent armaments industry of vast proportions. Added to this, three and a half million men and women are directly engaged in the defense establishment. We annually spend on military security more than the net income of all United States corporations.

This conjunction of an immense military establishment and a large arms industry is new in the American experience. The total influence — economic, political, even spiritual — is felt in every city, every State house, every office of the Federal government. We recognize the imperative need for this development. Yet we must not fail to comprehend its grave implications. Our toil, resources and livelihood are all involved; so is the very structure of our society.

In the councils of government, we must guard against the acquisition of unwarranted influence, whether sought or unsought, by the militaryindustrial complex. The potential for the disastrous rise of misplaced power exists and will persist.

We must never let the weight of this combination endanger our liberties or democratic processes. We should take nothing for granted. Only an alert and knowledgeable citizenry can compel the proper meshing of the huge industrial and military machinery of defense with our peaceful methods and goals, so that security and liberty may prosper together." - Dwight David Eisenhower

    • Let it be known that our last great President, Dwight D. Eisenhower, was no ’pinko’ ’commie’, ’leftie’ ’liberal’. Yet if one were to transcribe his prophetic farewell speech as an anonymous blog commentary for one of the more rabid ultra-right websites, such as the atrociously named ’Free Republic’, his speech would be vilified with those slanderous terms.

As for Mary McElveen, I’m starting to believe she is schizophrenic. Ms. McElveen has written several articles this past month denouncing any attempt by the new Democratic Congress to impeach the White House as a waste time or as an empty ’gotcha moment’, as she so inelegantly puts it.

Since when is the pursuit of criminals a waste of time? How can any decent American believe that the pursuit of justice amounts to nothing but the pursuit of ’gotcha moment’?
These articles were all barely disguised attempts at currying the favor of the ’new’ Democratic leader of the House, Pelosi, whose dismal acquiescence to the White House the day after the Republicans’ defeat at the polls reminded us all of the Who’s seminal song, ’We Won’t Get Fooled Again’. Indeed, with Pelosi at the helm, the lyric ’meet the new boss, same as the old boss’ was never more true.

Now apparently Ms. McElveen is advocating the forceable removal from office of this pathetic & demented President by the US Military, despite her recent anti-impeachment stance. Which Mary McElveen will we hear from next week, Pelosi’s favorite apologist or the Avenging Angel from Liberal Hell?

    • I like your heartfelt and accurate depictions of the shame of shame squatting in our White House. Our troops deserve articles about their real problems not the fantasy photo ops of bush and his corrupt handlers.
