While certain counties battle with their citizen over the legality of labeling genetically modified foods, and chemically produced and enhanced foods as ‘natural’, other countries are showing us how to work with nature.

The following two part CBC documentary from ‘The Nature of Things’ with David Suzuki examines Cuba’s ‘Accidental Revolution’, where in less then a decade Cuba learned how to grow food that feeds its people using only 5% of the energy that is required in Northern countries. Where people have learned to live in harmony with the ecosystem. Where a country has learned to treat its people with both western and alternative medicine. Where in a society with over 10,000 urban gardens, farmers make nearly double the salary of doctors for producing organic food for the community.

Considering that we are facing a serious global energy shortage along with environmental pollution, global warming, and water contamination, which may lead to the Water Wars, we would be well advised to learn from the example set before us by Cuba.

Ps. If you have a chance watch this documentary sooner rather then later, since, as is the case with many such movies on the Net, it may not be available for much longer.
