“The first community-currency system was born in Canada in 1983. Since then the concept has spread to more than 2,000 communities across North America, South and Central America, Europe, Africa and Asia. The mechanics of these systems change to reflect individual circumstances. But the basic concept of an interest-free, community-controlled exchange medium has remained the same.”

Using local currency can “stimulate the local economy by giving people incentive to shop in their own neighborhood, rather than drive the distance to large chain stores.” This helps protect the environment and takes power away from a centralized government and those who print fiat currencies.

It now appears that the devaluing of the Federal Reserve dollar and the stampede towards a value based currency has forced the banking institutions to begin their campaign to maintain their stranglehold on Americans by shutting down organizations that print local currencies which are backed by precious metals.

“By now, most of you have heard about the FBI’s recent raid on the offices of the producers of Liberty Dollars and their confiscation of millions of dollars worth of coins and metals.

“What you may not realize is that this is the beginning of what will be a long and ferocious battle for the freedom of this once great nation of people to command and control their destinies.”

To understand why this is a do-or-die battle for the control of the United States watch the following “animated presentation of ’Money as Debt’”, which explains in “very simple and effective graphic terms what money is and how it is being created.” Money As Debt (47:07)

After watching this brilliant short documentary it becomes clear why certain communities are printing their own currency. When The Comptroller General of the United States reveals that “deficit spending and promised benefits for federal entitlement programs have put every man, woman, and child in the United States on the hook for $175,000” putting the United States on the verge on bankruptcy, is it any wonder that local communities are printing their own currency?
