PETITION - "We will not pay for your crisis !". For a European social movement

« We will not pay for your crisis !!

« We will not pay for your crisis » is the slogan that has been echoing in all Italy for more than a month now. The wave of protests is spreading and more than 300 000 demonstrators on November 14th have taken up the slogan that across the borders shout at our political leaders. They are thousands of students, teachers and parents, who are thinking and acting for another education system. They call since now for a strike on December 12th.

"We will not pay for your crisis" is our revolt yells :

It is the yell of those in Italy, Germany, Spain, France... who refuse that education becomes a merchandise and refuse to see their future and their children future sacrificed by the destruction of public services, the only richness of those who have nothing.

It is the yell of workers, who reject mass redundancies and delocalization, who fight every day for their rights threatened by the law of profits. It is the yell of revolt of those, who because of the amputation of their wages and social protections by 30 years of free-market policies, indebted and pay daily with misery and precariousness egoistic choices of our political and economic leaders.

It is the yell of migrants, victims of an institutionalized racism, who refuse to be criminalized just because they look for a better life in West countries.

It is the yell of those who refuse that their rights may be subject to the law of the strongest capitalist.

"We will not pay for your crisis" is the warning of those who since December 1995, from occupied factories to working-class suburbs, stand out for equality and respect in France, who are mobilizind in Germany since 2003 against unemployment and exclusion... It is the warning that today in Italy, in Spain, in Germany... is thundering in ears of the powerful.

« We will not pay for your crisis » is another way to say that we do not want to live anymore in this society that wants to sacrifice us on the altar of profits. It is our way to ask for real equality of rights for everybody, women and men, nationals and immigrants, working people and unemployed people, people living in the cities and people living in the countryside...

Finally it is the yell of future of an entire generation who stands up and decides to fight, on an international level, an economic system which is showing right now its failure. Those men and women who are not getting satisfied with submission to the laws of market, who are taking up the challenge of globalization and wants to give their global answer.

Yes, another world is possible and we will invent it, because it is now an urgent necessity !

With this petition, we are calling for international solidarity with Italian students and workers who are fighting against Gelmini’s decree and the law 133.

We call for a European solidarity against the destruction of public service of Education, symbolic target of free-market policies that wants to replace in our minds the logic of equality and solidarity with the logic of the market. We are affirming too, to our international political leaders that we are going to do everything not to pay for the consequences of their irresponsible and harmful decisions. We are calling for organization of international solidarity and to prepare to show our solidarity with the Italian movement on December 12th 2008 by bridging between frontiers in order to build a real European social movement.

No, we will not pay for your crisis !

This is an initiative of some Italian and French students and young researchers who are taking part to the social movement (in Student Unions or in autonomous assembly in the Universities). It is aimed in a first time to affirm our solidarity with the current European social movements, and consequently to organize on a longer term international collaboration in order to defend public service of education and to organize an international meeting in a few months.

« We will not pay for your crisis ! »

A day of convergence of all european mobilizations will take place on 26th march.
