I have sent a Letter to the Media and Governments of Global Warming-threatened Island States urging them to apply an Accountability, Badge and Credo (ABC) protocol for saving the Planet and to take climate criminal First World nations such as Australia to the International Criminal Court (ICC) for complicity in a worsening Climate Genocide that, if not halted by urgent, requisite address of man-made global warming, will kill 10 billion non-Europeans this century.

Time is running out for dealing with man–made climate change (anthropogenic climate change, AGW).

Major climatic disruption has already occurred with the current average global surface temperature now about 0.8C above that in 1990 e.g. Arctic and Antarctic sea ice melting, world-wide glacier melting, increased sea levels, increased extent of forest fires, doubling of hurricane intensity, coral die off, massive ecosystem damage, increased droughts, increased floods, species extinction rates at 100-1,000 times that in the fossil record, the first populated islands disappearing under the waves in Bengal and the Pacific (for detailed accounts see . Indeed many scientists are now saying in effect that it is already too late to avoid even worse climatic disruption, on top of that which has already occurred, from a temperature increase of over 2C (2 degrees Centigrade) above that in 1900.

Thus, a survey of participants in the March 2009 Copenhagen Climate Change Conference revealed that 90% of respondents believed that the world would be unable to keep the temperature increase over the 1900 value to less than 2C (2 degrees Centigrade) (see ” World will not meet 2C warming target, climate change experts agree”: http://www.guardian.co.uk/environme... ).

Further, Professor Kevin Anderson and Alice Bows of the Tyndall Centre for Climate Change Research, University of Manchester, say that an annual decrease in GHG pollution of 6-8% is needed to stabilize atmospheric GHG at essentially the present level - i.e. a massive carbon-based economic contraction that is unachievable without radical social and economic restructuring of the world (see “Reframing the climate change challenge in light of post-2000 emission trends”. However we cannot give up. While there’s life there’s hope. But we have to get serious. Thus my associates in the Melbourne-based Yarra Valley Climate Action Group (see: ) and the Climate Emergency Network (see: ) took part in a 5,000-strong Human Sign on Melbourne’s iconic St Kilda Beach with a message to Governments from an 11 year old Australian school child saying “CLIMATE CHANGE – OUR FUTURE IS IN YOUR HANDS” (for photos see: http://crdunn.blogspot.com/2009/05/... ; for further details and discussion see “Human Sign calls on Government action: "climate change - our future is in your hands": http://gpolya.newsvine.com/_news/20... ).

However, while rallies and demonstrations get the message across we must go further and make the climate criminals ACCOUNTABLE for their past and ongoing pollution and devastation of the Planet.

I have devised a strategy to take the fight up to the climate criminals and which involves a 3-part protocol of Accountability (holding the climate criminals responsible by exposure, sanctions and prosecutions), Badge (bearing witness through wearing an appropriate Badge e.g. “Climate Emergency”) and clearly stating our core beliefs, or Credo e.g. “a safe and sustainable life for all people and and all species with a safe atmosphere with carbon dioxide (CO2) concentration at 300 parts per million”.

Among the people most acutely threatened by man-made climate change are tropical Island Nations and I have variously written Letters to the Media and Governments of the Island States of the Pacific, the Indian Ocean and the Caribbean urging self-protecting action NOW against climate criminal First World countries based on this Accountability, Badge & Credo (ABC) Protocol – and in particular, urging prosecution of climate criminal nations such as World-leading greenhouse gas (GHG) polluter Australia before the International Criminal Court (ICC).

Dear Sir/Madam,

Accountability, Badge and Credo (ABC) protocol & International Criminal Court (ICC) prosecutions may yet save Island States, Man and the Biosphere.

The World is acutely threatened by man-made global warming (e.g. island communities such as the PNG Carteret Islands already being rendered uninhabitable by increasing sea levels and increased hurricane intensity; massive global climatic disruption has already occurred) and many scientists now doubt that we can avoid further damaging temperature increases to over 2C above that in 1900. According to top UK climate scientist Dr James Lovelock FRS fewer than 1 billion people (mostly European) will survive the century due to First World profligacy and unaddressed man-made climate change – this translating to 10 billion deaths (mostly of non-Europeans, 3 billion Muslims, 2 billion Indians) in an already-commenced Climate Holocaust and Climate Genocide. However resolute global action via an Accountability, Badge and Credo (ABC) protocol may yet save Man and the Biosphere (see “How to Save the Planet. In short, the Accountability, Badge and Credo (ABC) protocol circumvents First World inaction and Denial and involves (A) Accountability of greenhouse gas (GHG)-polluting climate criminals imposing GHG pollution on all peoples and species (e.g. by naming via an electronic Climate Doomsday Book or virtual Climate Doomsday Monument of bad and good guys; by using a Green Credentialling or Green Certification system to identify products, people, companies and countries we can support and those we must boycott; and by international and intra-national sanctions, boycotts, green tariffs, reparations demands, civil actions and criminal prosecutions); (B) a Badge that activists can wear with a simple core pictorial or word message (e.g. “Climate Emergency” or “Climate Emergency Network”) or a core numerical message (e.g. “300” or “350” to indicate the urgent need to reduce atmospheric CO2 concentration to about 300 parts per million (ppm) or to less than 350 ppm, respectively); and (C) a Credo or core statement of beliefs e.g. “We believe in a safe and sustainable existence for all peoples and all species on our warming-threatened Planet and that this requires a rapid reduction of atmospheric carbon dioxide concentration to about 300 parts per million”.

What we urgently need to do globally is (1) Change of societal philosophy to one of scientific risk management and biological sustainability with complete cessation of species extinctions and zero tolerance for lying; (2) Urgent reduction of atmospheric CO2 to a safe level of about 300 ppm as recommended by leading climate and biological scientists; and (3) Rapid switch to the best non-carbon and renewable energy (solar, wind, geothermal, wave, tide and hydro options that are currently roughly the same market price as coal burning-based power) and to energy efficiency, public transport, needs-based production, re-afforestation and return of carbon as biochar to soils coupled with correspondingly rapid cessation of fossil fuel burning, deforestation, methanogenic livestock production and population growth (see "Climate Emergency Facts and Required Actions" of Melbourne-based Yarra Valley Climate Action Group: http://sites.google.com/site/yarrav... ).

Please send this Accountability, Badge and Credo (ABC) protocol to everyone you can.

Nations at Risk from worsening Climatic Disruption – notably in Africa, the Americas and Asia (from drought, floods, mega-delta submergence and increased storm intensity) and Island States (from salinization, submergence and increased hurricane intensity) – should take action over worsening Climate Genocide through the International Criminal Court against greedy climate criminal nations such as Australia, which is a world-leading coal exporter and GHG polluter – thus “annual per capita greenhouse gas (GHG) pollution” in units of “tonnes CO2-equivalent per person per year” (2005-2008 data) is 2.2 (India), 6.7 (the World), 11 (Europe), 27 (the US) and 30 (Australia; or 54 if Australia’s huge, world-leading Exported CO2 pollution is included).
