Mister President Barak Obama 14/10/09
The White House,
1600 Pennsylvania Avenue N.W.
Washington, D. C. 20500

Mister President Obama,

First let me congratulate you for recently receiving the Nobel Price for Peace.

This is not by coincidence if you were elected.

To hand out such a prize to a newly elected president of United States, is a proof
that the world desires to witness your country’s politics based on principles of justice, rather than wars, miseries and imbalanced situations.

As per your declarations, you showed the willingness to engage your country towards new orientations, This Nobel prize strengthens the hope that you will do so
.

I also wish to mention your relations with Cuba.

Cuban Independence war blocked by the United States is not so far away, as this happened only more than a century ago. Since then the politics of your country has not really changed towards this small country. In a memorandum that the Deputy Minister of war Breckenridge, wrote to the general Nelson A. Miles, on 24th December 1897 it was mentioned the following about Cuba:

“We must clean up the country, even if this means using the methods Divine Providence used on the cities of Sodom and Gomorrahs.
We must destroy everything within our cannon’s range of fire. We must impose a harsh blockade so that hunger and its constant companion, disease, undermine the peaceful population and decimate the Cuban army…”

Such proposals are of a terrible actuality, when we can read in a memorandum, written by the Deputy Secretary of State for American affairs Lester D. Mallory to his State Secretary Roy R. Rubotton on April 6th 1960:

« Most Cubans support Castro. There’s no effective political opposition (...) the only foreseeable means to alienate internal support is by creating disillusionment and discouragement based on lack of satisfaction and economical difficulties (...) We should immediately use any possible measure to (...) cause hunger, desperation and the overthrow of the Government. »

Blocus is still effective, despite the majority of World’s nations ! Cuba has suffered too much from the aggressive politic of United States, particularly since the Revolution in 1959. United States have never accepted the Cuban’s society choice, which is solely THEIR choice. Terrorists acts prepared from United States have multiplied since this revolution. Despite the violence and the crimes made by known persons, despite the mafia of the Cuban-Americans responsible of these crimes, such acts have been protected and even encouraged by the different levels of government of your country.

The Five Cubans Gerard Hernandez, Fernando Gonzalez, Antonio Guerrero, Ramon Labanino and René Gonzalez, who have been defending their country against the criminal complots by infiltrating such terrorists groups, are unfortunately still imprisoned in your country.

The masquerade of trials, appeals following other appeals since so many years, is totally insupportable and unjustified.

You are totally aware Mister President, that to normalize relations between Cuba and your country is absolutely the key to free the Five prisoners.

It is now time to free those five men who have battled against terrorism; who have spent too much time in your prisons and particularly in very bad and inhuman conditions.

You have the power, Mister President to grant pardon to those men. This strong gesture from yourself is waited by numerous people and nations. We hope this will be soon. This would be a really wonderful recognition towards the Nobel price of Peace, you recently received.

Hoping that you will take this decision in the immediate future, I remain

Sincerely yours,

Jacqueline Roussie
