Impeachment is not a partisan political issue. The House of Representatives, possessed of the "sole power of impeachment," is required to consider a bill of impeachment on the facts even if every Member were of the same party, or political persuasion, as the President. The seven specific provisions of the Constitution setting forth the powers and duties of the Congress in considering impeachment intend that any President or other civil officer of the United States who has committed a high Crime or Misdemeanor "...shall be removed from Office."

The power of impeachment assures the people against criminal acts and despotic ambitions by government officials.

We, the People have the power to require the House of Representatives to do its duty and act on a bill of impeachment after full investigation and consideration. If it fails to do so those House members who failed to perform this Constitutional duty can and should be voted from office. Remember that President Nixon resigned under threat of impeachment for Watergate less than two years after his landslide reelection in 1972.

Impeachment is Imperative

For the American people who support and defend the Constitution of the United States, who want to prevent further crimes by a lawless administration, who believe we can redeem our country in the eyes of those we have assaulted and those who have witnessed this brutality and who dare to demand of future government leadership, NEVER AGAIN, Impeachment is Imperative. A decent respect to the opinions of mankind requires that we Americans should declare the causes which impel us to impeach.

President George W. Bush chose to wage a war of aggression against Iraq, which had not attacked the United States and presented no imminent threat to our people, or legitimate interests. A small cabal, Cheney, Rumsfeld, Rice, Wolfowitz, Feith, Libby and Rove wrested decision making processes from established institutions of government to reinforce President Bush’s desire to seize Iraq, defying international institutions, the opinions of humankind and the rule of law to commence a disastrous criminal military adventure.

A Campaign of Deceit and False Propaganda

War of aggression is the first offense listed in the Nuremberg Charter as a Crime against Peace. The Nuremberg Tribunal after hearing evidence of Nazi crimes in World War II convicted the leaders of waging wars of aggression, which it called "the supreme international crime."

At Nuremberg, the Chief U.S. Prosecutor, Robert H. Jackson, promised posterity that in the future all nations, including our own, would be held accountable for such crimes.

President Bush and key administration officials engaged in a lengthy campaign of deceit, concealment and false propaganda to create support for, and acceptance of, its war of aggression by claiming Iraq possessed weapons of mass destruction, harbored terrorists, had close ties with and supported Al Qaeda and intended to attack the U.S., U.S. citizens and U.S. interests. A free society, democratic institutions and constitutional government cannot survive such deceit by its own government.

The U.S. has made civilians and civilian facilities its direct object of attack. It has pursued assassination and summary executions as official policy. President Bush boasted of summary executions in his State of the Union message in 2003. Excessive and indiscriminate force and illegal weapons have been used. Many thousands of Iraqi citizens, whole families, women, children, elderly Iraqis have been killed as a result.

U.S. military casualties exceed 10,000 including more than 1,100 deaths with many additional thousands returned to the United States for physical and mental illnesses.

The U.S. has employed torture, including torture to death, rape and sexual assault and humiliation, as approved and ordered policy from Afghanistan and Guantanamo to Iraq, inflicted on thousands of prisoners, many, if not most, without any evidence of wrongful conduct. An admitted 37 human beings have been murdered while being held in captivity by the United States under these conditions. We know not how many more. All the mounting evidence makes clear that this program of torture and death is not aberrational conduct of rogue or undisciplined soldiers but is rather the policy adopted at the highest levels of the Bush/Rumsfeld chain of command. All this in violation of the Geneva Conventions, the International Convention Against Torture, the laws of all nations and common human decency.

Article II, Section 4 of the Constitution of the United States provides: The President, Vice President and all civil Officers of the United States, Shall Be Removed From Office on Impeachment for, and Conviction of, Treason, Bribery, or other high Crimes and Misdemeanors.

More than 100,000 Dead Based on a Lie

We learn from the prominent medical journal Lancet of the report by researchers at John Hopkins University, Columbia University and the Al-Mustansiriya University in Baghdad that the U.S. war of aggression against Iraq and military occupation has cost "at least" 100,000 Iraqi lives already must civilian, women and children. Already President Bush has launched a massive aerial and ground assault on Falluja which may kill thousands of defenseless civilians.

Haiti, where President Bush forced the elected President Jean Bertrand Aristide from office, is in chaos with many thousands killed by widespread daily violence committed by U.S. supported paramilitaries against Aristide supporters.

Nearly 500,000 have voted to impeach. Help us increase that number into millions the Congress cannot ignore.

Every American should choose whether to vote for impeachment entirely on the facts, straight up, or down, without political, or partisan fear, or favor. We owe this to the country, its future, the Constitution and our common heritage. Impeachment is Required Now.

Impeachment now is the only way we, the American people, can promise ourselves and the world that we will not tolerate crimes against peace and humanity by our government. Knowing what we know, to wait longer is to condone what has been done and risk more.

      Thank you for disproving your own points. The fact that we have women’s rights is a clear sign that democracy is alive and well in our country. The fact that black people faced racism and segregation, only to now hold many prominent positions in our country, is proof that democracy is alive and well in our country. The fact that people who deserve the death penalty get that penalty by their own actions, and after being convicted in a court of law, shows that democracy is alive and well in our country.

      As for your remark as to why more black/coloured people are sentenced to death being a coincidence? This stems from a greater problem in our country, but has nothing to do with democracy. Maybe there are a higher percentage of black people that commit crimes in this country. Maybe that stems from the higher percentage of blacks who grow up with no father, because of a culture they perpetuate. Again, all part of a greater problem, but one that has nothing to do with your argument about "democracy".

      God is a loving and caring God. He is also a God that destroyed many people and many cities due to their wickedness and complete abandonment of their love for Him. Countries like Iraq, they do not worship the true living God, but instead worship men (Saddam Hussein). Pick up your Bible, read through the Old Testament. There are a lot of examples where whole civilizations fell to the hands of righteous people.

    • I sometimes wonder if the South ever wanted to really be a part of the United States, or any other country, long before the Civil War. Before the war the South was a bunch of separate cotton republics.

      When the South broke away and formed the Confederacy it did not take very long for some of the Confederate states to threaten to break away from the Confederacy. The South never did get along very well with the North and eventually the South proved it could not even get along with itself.

      What did the Bush administration “do” to deserve this wonderful impeachment nomination? Here’s the short list:

      1) Seizing power to wage wars of aggression in defiance of the U.S. Constitution, the U.N. Charter and the rule of law;
      carrying out a massive assault on and occupation of Iraq, a country that was not threatening the United States, resulting in the death and maiming of tens of thousands of Iraqis, and hundreds of U.S. G.I.s.

      2) Lying to the people of the U.S., to Congress, and to the U.N., providing false and deceptive rationales for war.

      3) Authorizing, ordering and condoning direct attacks on civilians, civilian facilities and
      locations where civilian casualties were unavoidable.

      4) Threatening the independence and sovereignty of Iraq by belligerently changing its
      government by force and assaulting Iraq in a war of aggression. Authorizing, ordering and condoning assassinations, summary executions, kidnappings, secret
      and other illegal detentions of individuals, torture and physical and psychological coercion of
      prisoners to obtain false statements concerning acts and intentions of governments and
      individuals and violating within the United States, and by authorizing U.S. forces and agents
      elsewhere, the rights of individuals under the First, Fourth, Fifth, Sixth and Eighth Amendments
      to the Constitution of the United States, the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, and the
      International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights.

      5) Making, ordering and condoning false statements and propaganda about the conduct of foreign
      governments and individuals and acts by U.S. government personnel; manipulating the media
      and foreign governments with false information; concealing information vital to public
      discussion and informed judgment concerning acts, intentions and possession, or efforts to obtain
      weapons of mass destruction in order to falsely create a climate of fear and destroy opposition to
      U.S. wars of aggression and first strike attacks.

      6) Violations and subversions of the Charter of the United Nations and international law, both a
      part of the "Supreme Law of the land" under Article VI, paragraph 2, of the Constitution, in an
      attempt to commit with impunity crimes against peace and humanity and war crimes in wars and
      threats of aggression against Afghanistan, Iraq and others and usurping powers of the United
      Nations and the peoples of its nations by bribery, coercion and other corrupt acts and by rejecting
      treaties, committing treaty violations, and frustrating compliance with treaties in order to destroy
      any means by which international law and institutions can prevent, affect, or adjudicate the
      exercise of U.S. military and economic power against the international community.

      7) Acting to strip United States citizens of their constitutional and human rights, ordering
      indefinite detention of citizens, without access to counsel, without charge, and without
      opportunity to appear before a civil judicial officer to challenge the detention, based solely on the
      discretionary designation by the Executive of a citizen as an "enemy combatant."

      8) Ordering indefinite detention of non-citizens in the United States and elsewhere, and without
      charge, at the discretionary designation of the Attorney General or the Secretary of Defense.

      9) Ordering and authorizing the Attorney General to override judicial orders of release of
      detainees under INS jurisdiction, even where the judicial officer after full hearing determines a
      detainee is wrongfully held by the government.

      10) Authorizing secret military tribunals and summary execution of persons who are not citizens
      who are designated solely at the discretion of the Executive who acts as indicting official,
      prosecutor and as the only avenue of appellate relief.

      11) Refusing to provide public disclosure of the identities and locations of persons who have
      been arrested, detained and imprisoned by the U.S. government in the United States, including in
      response to Congressional inquiry.

      12) Use of secret arrests of persons within the United States and elsewhere and denial of the right
      to public trials.

      13) Authorizing the monitoring of confidential attorney-client privileged communications by the
      government, even in the absence of a court order and even where an incarcerated person has not
      been charged with a crime.

      14) Ordering and authorizing the seizure of assets of persons in the United States, prior to
      hearing or trial, for lawful or innocent association with any entity that at the discretionary
      designation of the Executive has been deemed "terrorist."

      15) Institutionalization of racial and religious profiling and authorization of domestic spying by
      federal law enforcement on persons based on their engagement in noncriminal religious and
      political activity.

      16) Refusal to provide information and records necessary and appropriate for the constitutional
      right of legislative oversight of executive functions.

      17) Rejecting treaties protective of peace and human rights and abrogation of the obligations of
      the United States under, and withdrawal from, international treaties and obligations without
      consent of the legislative branch, and including termination of the ABM treaty between the
      United States and Russia, and rescission of the authorizing signature from the Treaty of Rome
      which served as the basis for the International Criminal Court.

      I realize you all feel that this attempt to impeach the President has something to do with political affiliation. I would like the opportunity to remind you all that Republicans and Democrats approved of most of George Bushs policies of the last 4 years. Now, with that said. What does that entail ? To me it means that both parties are not (at least at the Federal level) independent from another. The Republican and Democratic parties are actually one party and have been fooling the American public for some time now. If you want evidence one would only look and see who are members of The Council on Foreign Affairs or The Trilateral Commission. You will see listed the elite AND politicians from BOTH parties. Both parties have trounced on the Constitution. The Federal Reserve is unconstitutional. The Bill of Rights are being torn to pieces. Presidents are going to war without Congress declaring and approving it.  The Budget and Trade deficit are so high they have condemed our unborn children to slavery just to pay the interest. When are the american people suppose to make a stand against these tyrants who merely pretend to hold americas best interest ? When all their rights have already been taken away ?

      If an impeachment were to take place. It would not only be for George Bush. It would also be for the puppet masters.

      With Britian’s Parliment gearing up to Impeach Blair, this coming spring will be a very interesting.

      The English Brits are really upset. The Irish were debating if they could arrest him when he last visited. If we’re still stuck with Bush once Blair falls, there’s no way the American Media can avoid the basis of his impeachment, because it has to do with his aiding America in an illegal war.

  • After having read all all the comments and replies to the demand for Mr. Bush’s impeachment I am puzzled by the same thing
    that did not make sense during this election. How can people so blatantly ignore the facts. Not statements of passion or personal/politcal differences or philisophical or ideological differences. I am talking facts.

    The facts are well illustrated in several of the posts so I will not waste time, breath or space to repeat them again.
    It is simply amazing that Americans (well just a hair over half of the ones that actually cared enough to vote) still
    believe the fairy tales that come from the Bush administration. What does it take to open your eyes. It is not about you personally being wrong or right. It is not about me or anyone else being wrong or right. It is about the facts.

    I voted for Mr. Bush in 2000 as a registered Democrat who was fed up with the way Bill Clinton was abusing his power and
    spending his time in dalliances with women around the office. There are so many issues wrapped up in those problems
    that you may or may not agree with but that is what I felt at the time. He seemed so cavalier about the position he held.....and so I lost
    faith and voted for Bush. I was so wrong. I was so mislead and so betrayed. Mr. Clintons failings still stand but in light of the current Presidents apparent blood lust and disregard for democracy, Mr Clinton seems a knight in shining armor.

    It soon became apparent after we invaded Afghanistan that there was something seriously wrong with the morals and principles of the Bush
    Presidency and those he depended on for advice. Again, re-read the posts here and you will see the facts. This is a run away administration and I made a mistake in voting for him. I have done my best to be involved and to do my part to see that he was not re-elected.

    It is not a game about who has the best team or who made the best vote. This is about the future of our democracy, the sanctity of our
    consciences, everything this country is supposed to stand for. It is not about having it all your one particular way. It is about our celebrating our differences and respecting them while being allowed to persue our own. It is not about creating cookie cutter people in a cookie cutter society run amok and run astray by the very office that is supposed to lead us to Democracy. The Presidency is not about turning the country into a personal agenda it is about representing the country as a whole with all its diversity. It is about showing the world that we
    can celebrate and explore differences and still protect and respect each other as well as other cultures.

    We have become the bully on the playground. It is getting harder to make the distinction between our government and the ones that we

    • An impeachment inquiry SHOULD be made into the activities of Bush, Cheney, and others in his administration. The openning post is good. I find many of the following posts to be unintelligible rants one way or another. Such is not convincing.
      Neither Bush or Kerry are good. My people voted one of the Socialist candidates. As far as Bible prophecy and end times, I am a Christian with 20 years experience, ministry experience and Bible college in the 80’s. I can tell you that Bush fits the mold for someone who is of the spirit of antichrist. I am not saying he IS the antichrist, but that he is of that spirit, of that mold.
      Bush promotes lies against the American people, offers tax breaks for the rich, spends billions on a war against a country that was NOT a threat to the U.S. and undermines environmental issues by his policies.       I happen to agree with Bush on the issue of stem cell research, abortion, and homosexual marraige. Yet I also strongly feel that you cannot legislate morality. Moral issues come about only by individual changes of heart. Making abortion a crime will open up a new black market and back up an already overburdened court system. Laws will not stop homosexual behavior or abortion, just as they didn’t stop alcoholism during prohibition, nor do they stop people from smoking pot today.
      I say, fix the economy, make affordable health care and abortions will decline, since many women seek them for economic reasons. As far as homosexuality, leave that up to God, not the courts. And don’t discriminate against human beings who choose to be homosexual.

    How Can the Progressive’s Take America Back?

    First and foremost, we cannot sell out! So many aspects of the modern world that we ALL take for granted, blue state and red state alike, are the results of hard fought Progressive battles to bring about the things we all value most. Security, Opportunity, Liberty, Freedom!

    For the progressives to take America back, we need to start leading again! When Americans think that many Democrat politicians have no backbone it’s because many Democrat politicians have no back bone! These Democrats in Washington that vote with the Conservatives and hand out another tax give away to the rich and to these so called Faith based initiatives in the face of rising national debt. These Democrats that do little about asking the hard questions, holding all of the Presidents men to account about the reasons we performed a preemptive invasion of Iraq in which at this point over 1200 American lives have been sacrificed!

    No! We Progressives must not sell out! We must begin to lead again in the same way that Clinton did, through inspiration, hope and optimism for the future, and the promise of Security, Opportunity, Liberty and Freedom!

Most voters in America aren’t very educated and only vote the way that their childhood biases ingrained by generations of ancestors whom have lived in poverty-stricken neighborhoods with only faith-based values as their guides dictate, and when it comes to voting they will vote as these values (unadulterated by modern theological criticism), their neighbors who come from the same backgrounds, and their churches lead them to do. The majority of the people aren’t particularly intellectual, progressive, or informed in any sense of that word. The only factor determining whether or not they can vote is the fact that they have reached eighteen years of age. And many of the people that I’m mentioning are the poor, white class of the Bible Belt region — rough people in many cases whose ancestors were criminals in England that chose to be deported to the colonies rather than face the death penalty for their crimes during the sixteenth and seventeenth centuries. However, as majority determines the outcome in elections in this country then the bubbas votes should matter just as much as those of the progressive, "educated" liberals and as an example of this we see the clear-cut election of a man of who typifies their values to president. There may be a value in fourth-grade level insults that progressive liberals are too educated to grasp as the core tenets of the group of voters outlined above could in fact be more necessary and true to the human condition than those of progressive thinkers.
