Art for Peace, Planet, Mother & Child - "Manhattan Madonna" & huge sister Paintings for Peace
By :
Dr Gideon Polya - Saturday April 11, 2009
When words fail, we can say it in pictures. Art for Peace can surely be effective as outlined below. Indeed we must at least TRY for the cause of those Mothers and Children suffering under Bush-ite-Zionist Wars and Occupations in the ongoing Bush (now Obama) War on Women and Children in the Occupied Palestinian, Iraqi and Afghan Territories - and for Humanity as a whole threatened by a looming 10 billion-victim Climate Genocide.
Each year in the World about 16.0 million people die (...)

Scheherazade painting, Arundhati Roy & ART for Peace & Womens’s Rights in the Bush War on Women
By :
Dr Gideon Polya - Sunday September 2, 2007
PEACE is the only way but silence kills and silence is complicity - we are obliged to at least INFORM OTHERS about gross human rights abuses, especially of Women and Children. What can decent people do about horrendous human rights abuse of Women and their Children around the World?
I am an Artist as well as a scientist, writer and humanitarian advocate. I have an IDEA to empower decent folk - use ART to transmit a message of Peace and Respect for Women and for Mother and Child around the (...)

Danish Cartoons: Racism Has No Place on the Left
By :
Deepa Kumar - Tuesday March 14, 2006
by Deepa Kumar
I’ve just about had it. I cannot watch one more episode of the Daily Show which makes racist jokes about Arabs and Muslims. I am sick and tired of people who see themselves as part of the left writing articles that put a liberal gloss over what is, in essence, a right-wing "clash of civilizations" argument. And I am fed up with an anti-war movement in the United States that will do nothing to defend Muslims against all the attacks they have faced both domestically (...)

Misunderstanding Muslims

James Carroll - Friday February 17, 2006

When the Koran was said to have been denigrated by American guards at Guantanamo last year, Muslims reacted with rage, but most observers in the West misunderstood why.
It was easy for Christians and Jews — the other ’’people of the Book" — to think that such an insult to the Koran was like an insult to the Bible. That would be sacrilege enough, but it was worse than that.
Drawing analogies between religions can mislead, but the Koran stands in (...)

Bigotry on the loose

It wasn’t Copenhagen, it was Washington and something that transpired there recently was ugly and more than a little frightening. Bigotry was on the loose.
It wasn’t covered much by the country’s major media, and those that did cover it seem to have missed a critical piece of the story which was reported by slate.com and the Financial Times.
Michael Scherer wrote that of the attendees at the Conservative Political Action Conference (CPAC) at the Omni (...)

Those Danish Cartoons: Don’t Be Fooled This Isn’t an Issue of Islam versus Secularism
By :
ROBERT FISK - Saturday February 11, 2006

So now it’s cartoons of the Prophet Mohamed with a bomb-shaped turban. Ambassadors are withdrawn from Denmark, Gulf nations clear their shelves of Danish produce, Gaza gunmen threaten the European Union. In Denmark, Fleming Rose, the "culture" editor of the pip-squeak newspaper which published these silly cartoons—last September, for heaven’s sake—announces that we are witnessing a "clash of civilisations" between secular Western democracies and (...)

One million drawings.

Our goal is to compile one million drawings during 2006 in order to send a strong visual and virtual message.
It s about making a campaign to sensibilise people on the defence of the Earth (in the present and future), by making a fresco composed by one million drawings fram all over the World.
Together we are going to express our refusal to the slow destruction of our planet.
The participants: who are they? Their participation!
The adventure is starting and is to be followed up daily. (...)

The Daniel Pipes apologetic article from Flemming Rose/Jyllands Posten

Flemming "Muhammad cartoons" Rose traveled to Philadelphia in 2004 in order to meet Daniel Pipes (the neo con who’s advocating to keep US muslims in concentration camps). Here’s the translation of the article that ensued.
Translation by Nina.
The Threat of Islamism by Flemming Rose Jyllands-Posten 29. Oktober 2004
According to Daniel Pipes, the Muslim world at the moment is trying, for the third time, to define itself in relation to the West. The two first attempts aimed (...)
