> Il Manifesto (Italian daily newspaper) is facing a financial crisis that threatens its future

27 August 2006, 14:37

It has "Quotidiano Comunista" on the front of each issue. But let’s say it’s the one paper that publishes views from a left point of view, as in "real left," not the left wing of the political class. There is Liberazione, but it is a paper for the partito rifondazione comunista, so you can’t expect much criticism of the PRC platform or the PRC’s center-leaning tendencies. There is also La Repubblica, but it’s closer to the center.

Il Manifesto is the only credible source of paper-based news in italy.
