> Open letter to Senator John Kerry

The most mindboggling effect of this joke of an election is that the so-called Evangelical Christians are being patted on their collective backs for "getting Bush elected". The second most unbelievable thing about those voters who want "moral values" back in our country.

Moral values? From a man with absolutely no experience in foreign affairs or diplomacy? A man who takes the prize for being the first president to come into office with a felony record on his resume, a drunk, a man who totally ignored the American middle-class for the last four year but is now ready to make nice-nice? A man who is drooling with excitement at the thought of desecrating our national parks and ANWR with oil rigs? A man who set back the process of stricter emission control laws put in place so fossil fuels and oil and whatever other krapola is spewing out into our air from smokestacks? [People are wringing their hands over the amount of mercury in fish from our fresh water lakes and streams, where do they think this contamination of water comes from? — Smokestacks and runoff from companies spewing their hazardous waste into our once clean waters!!!]

Moral values? The Bush loyalists are more worried about women having choice, gays getting married and of course, squashing that pesky stem cell research. Never mind the disaster of attacking a country that was of no threat to us AT ALL — without a care in the world about the obscene national debt, Bush’s fat cat buddies are getting tax cuts forever, (how is he going to pay for that, I wonder?) — and so on and so on.

First of all, why does it appear to the press and everyone on "their" side that only Republicans who voted for Bush’s "moral values" are decent, God-fearing creatures? What a joke that is! Of all the millions who voted for John Kerry, there must be a dozen or so who also go to church and believe in law and order, etc, etc,, right? I really, really despise those hypocritical freeper moralists. My biggest argument for pro-choice is this..........What right do the do-gooders have to decide a woman should not have an abortion? What business is it of theirs? If they don’t like abortion, then their female family members shouldn’t have one. But let other women have a choice.

Stem cell research. The rightwing bible thumpers think those differentiated cells sitting in a petri dish are "babies" so using them for research would be considered abortion. Hello? They are NOT babies, they will NEVER be babies. Why or why can’t a group of influential scientists, including ethicists, talk to God’s messenger George (that’s what Bush thinks he is, anyway) and try to explain the TRUTH to him about those "babies" used in stem cell research?

Gay marriage and messing with the U.S. Constitution to put in such a silly, useless, stupid Amendment to this illustrious document !!!! Again, with the divorce rate in the U.S. at 50% I hardly think man/woman marriage is doing such a great job of showing how nice it is to have just a man and woman combination. I will never understand what scares these nice moral people about gays, getting married or even just "being". They live their lives pretty much like the rest of us, only difference is they don’t have the same rights every other citizen of this country has.

The bottom line is — I and so many millions like me, are depressed, sad, and scared silly at what this ignorant man we call the "president" now will do to our country in the next four years. Doesn’t it scare you at what he can do now, with the House and the Senate majority behind him? Let’s just hope there are enough sensible and smart Republicans in the House and Senate to help the Democrats keep Dubya on a fairly short leash. (yeah, right)

Let’s finish with Iraq once and for all, and if peace can’t be resolved there (any one believe peace could happen?), tell their government after the elections in January we’re handing their country over to them and whatever happens then is all theirs. If more of what our taxpayers built for them is blown away, they can re-build without our nickel — then let’s get our troops out of there before worrying about dumb amendments to our Constitution.!

Mad-as-helk Democrat!
