> Madrid Fire Re-opens 9/11 Questions: Why did the twin towers fall so fast?

Lower speed at impact would create more damage?

One of the problems with the conspiracy crowd is that they never took Physics, and think reading a few peculiar websites will make up for having taken liberal arts courses instead of getting an actual education.

The energy transmitted on impact increases with the SQUARE of the speed, period. So even going just a bit faster creates a surprisingly larger hit.

Spending some time on a Fire Engineering or Structural Engineering site wouldn’t do any harm, either. It might clear up all that adolescent confusion between the melting point of steel and the far lower temperature at which it loses ALL of its structural strength.
