The two main objections to the proposed constitution, that is no constitution at all, just harmonisation and streamlining (and modification) of existing treaties are:
– on domestic policy: that the democratic-social tradition of the W European nations can be taken away by a EU majority
– on foreign policy: that EU foreign policy is subjugated through NATO to the USA.
As a French lady commented: we do not want a society where anything can be bought for money.
I personally can add: one USA in the world iss more than enough.
