> THE LAVON AFFAIR IS HISTORY REPEATING ITSELF?

14 July 2005, 13:19

"More recently, Captain Ward Boston, who served as senior legal counsel for the Navy’s Court of Inquiry into the Israeli attack on USS Liberty, has come forward to report that the Court of Inquiry was ORDERED to conclude that the attack was an accident by President Lyndon Johnson."

I don’t doubt this for a moment, but could give a connection for this information.

As a non-American, what disturbs me most about the USS Liberty incident is; 1. LBJ’s reported comments about not embarrassing an ally and yet allow this ’ally’ murder innocent US servicemen. 2. The US planes flying to Cairo were nuclear armed. They were minutes from use. If they had been used, would the USSR not have been obliged the aid its ally Egypt ergo WW3. Now that doesn’t make sense to me. Unless it was intended all along to drag the USSR into war with the US, with the US party to this, then it makes no sense.

If I was American, what would disturb me is that for decades the government that protects and cares for its service men would allow this festering ulcer continue to ooze puss into the moral of present and future servicemen. If I was interested in recruits then I’d get this sorted pronto.
