You all seem to care more about Foley. Don’t any of you give a shit! We have more more rights, they’re gone! If you want to end this madness while w estill can.

  • Why are our brave men and women being sent over to the Gulf to be sitting ducks for a possible operation Northwoods??? Another Battleship Maine???? Why is the thread about this being purposely buried under a massive Spam attack, and attempts to add to that thread purposely blocked??? To many SHEEPLE getting restless????

  • hey I was down in Dallas and did not see any protest ? oh well, so much for Oct. 5th.

  • I was at the WORLD CANT WAIT rally and march in NY today, and was NOT impressed. It was the same old, same old—telling us all the things wrong(we know them or we wouldn’t be there), but no solid advise on what to do for real change.

We need intelligent direction on effective action, now, not tomorrow.(WORLD CANT WAIT might get there, but if today is any indication of what they have been doing for their year in existence, it is not enough).

If anyone knows of any group that seems to have viable ideas for a relatively peaceful revolution, PLEASE post!!!!

    • Your only option for a peaceful revolution is to go home and sit in from of the fire place with a bottle of scotch! The poor people now owe their souls to the bankers and are to busy working for them on October 5th to demonstrate.

    • Changing the situation.
First identify the source of the problem.
From what I have been able to find, the source of our problem is the alliance between corporate interests and our government. This comes from the claim that the Supreme Court gave the right of ’personhood’ to corporations in the 1886 case of Santa Clara vs. southern Pacific RR by declaring that the railroad was entitled to "equal protection under the law." That claim is questionable but it allowed corporations to assert they could claim all the same rights people have and participate in politics which they previously were not allowed to do.
This has led to the outright bribery of Congress through campaign funding and lobbying by corporate interests. What chance does a citizen have to press for legislation to get laws that clean up the local water ways polluted by businesses when those same businesses are coming to the Congressional door with a big campaign check in hand?
      1. We must pass a Constitutional Admendment that forbids corporations the right of personhood.
      2. We must publicly fund campaigns and forbid any contributions from sources outside of the district or state the Congress person represents. (Voters should also design how we want campaigns to be conducted.)
      3. Perhaps we citizens should start a class action suit based on taxation without representation, as it is clear that many represenatives serve the needs of corporate sponsors and not the people.
We must get the money out of politics and eliminate corporate control.

  • Okay then, what about ideas for a relatively non-peaceful revolution? Seriously, we need revolution, but how to get support, and a unified plan—
    suggestions, please

  • It’s fascinating to see the garbled protests. The inarticulate whimperings. The semi-conscious angst. Looking for leadership? Start with the dictionary!

    • Excellent! Start with the dictionary, proceed to 19th and 20th Century history (for a real appraisal of all the movements that have defined our age: the Industrial Revolution, the Scientific Revolution, the rise of powerful nation-states, the age of Conscription, the rise of the British Empire, etc.) then finally a crash course in LOGIC AND CRITICAL THINKING.

But really people, we do have the power to depose this lawless regime and it’s called the vote.
It is not too late to apply for an absentee ballot. An absentee ballot will have to be hand counted, an absentee ballot will not be processed by Diebold machines, those notoriously hackable pieces of crap that have made our democracy an utter sham.
If we vote only for those Republicans and Democrats who have stood tall against the vermin that are ruining our country [there are only three dozen, with men like Ron Paul and Senators Feingold and Specter and women like Cynthia McKenney on top of the list] and vote for the independent candidate when either of the two-faced party candidates fails to even address the pressing issues of the day, such as the Federal Government’s unwavering and barely disguised attacks on our civil liberties and the on-going false war of occupation in Iraq, we might have our democracy back.
So, one answer to our dilemma is for all of us to apply for an absentee ballot and vote independent come November, 2006. I pray that next month will be history in the making as the American people take back their country in one Glorious Revolution.
But considering how apathetic, frightened and intellectually stifled we have become in the last two decades this may be too much to ask.

    • So you are looking for leadership in a dictionary??? How will this help Americans respond to a murderous Cabal that Murders it’s Own people as a pretext to invade other nations, kill their people and steal their resources??? Can you explain? On the surface that seems ineffective.

    • "On the surface," you say. Check the brief text at the top of the page, which illustrates a surface comprehension of the issues, as well as the language used to "critique" them. Granted, many of us rush through these ecommuniques, producing occasional typos and mangled phrases. But in one short paragraph, there are numerous signs - grammar, spelling, typos - that indicate a distinct lack of attention, carelessness, or perhaps the use of a strong intoxicant(s). Not to mention the absolutist logic: "They destroyed the Constitution..." All of them?

The left has enough problems attempting to sway the general public. If one is going to suggest mass political leaderhsip, is it too much to ask that the writer show a modicum of competence in trying to make a point? Or would you rather see the raw, unrefined rants of half-baked sentiments lead the way? And last, but not least, is the scatological reference necessary?

    • 62.50: No, I’m not looking for political leadership in a dictionary, mon ami. Sir or Madam, did you even bother to read the rest of my comment? It seems you only read the first sentence.
Let me explain to you what I’m trying to get at in a nutshell:

      First point:
If we are truly free men and women capable of independent thought, confident in our own natural talents, confident in our own ability to acquire new skills, then we should be capable of providing for our own leadership without the recourse of discovering this leadership elsewhere. If there are no leaders to be found, no heroes to be worshipped, then we should be able to fill that vacuum, pick up the gauntlet and take action. The time for waiting for heroes is over, if there ever was such a time. Our Founding Fathers did not wait for heroes, they became heroes.
The American people need to grow up fast, mature as human beings if they truly want a better world for themselves and their children. Constantly whining for leaders who more often than not turn out to be as corrupt as the last batch of parasitic failures is a royal waste of time and a sign of emotional immaturity, quite frankly. Yes, I understand the need to vent one’s frustration about the dangerous course the world and our nation seems hell bent on pursuing, but one should be able to take that anger and that frustration and use it as an energy source to enlighten other people on the facts, to awaken other Americans to the harsh reality of our present crisis. To sum up: In a viable democracy we the people become the leaders.

      Second Point:
One of the hallmarks of good leaders is their verbal acuity, their ability to express their intentions, goals and overall vision to their followers. The originator of the article which elicited my first post in the first place simply doesn’t possess very much verbal acuity, mon ami. Therefore this writer does not possess one of the key characteristics of a good leader.
The foundation of any verbal skill is the knowledge of the meaning of words, a dictionary. Indeed, the foundation of any discipline, be it science, engineering, the law, even art and music is that discipline’s lexicon, a compendium of terms that all within that discipline understand and have agreed upon.
One of the great banes of contemporary American politics is the vagueness of terms, the laxness in thought. This is done deliberately to dissuade us from being involved in the political process in the first place. It would behove anyone desiring a leadership position in any discipline, most especially politics, to become a master of that discipline’s lexicon. Our political class know all about the lack of education of the average American and they have become quite proficient in masking their real intentions by using sophistry and obfuscations, i.e. they are supreme con-artists only because most Americans simply don’t know enough about their own language to see how it has been twisted against them by their so-called leaders. These parasitic vermin are false leaders & one of the signs of a false leader is his willingness to pervert the language. But if our knowledge of our own language is pitiful, how can we recognize when it has been perverted?

Which brings me to my Third Point:
If we are as great a nation as we pretend to be, then we should be able to fill this leadership vacuum easily. If not, we cannot in all seriousness call ourselves ’GREAT’ any longer.

I believe many of us are quite capable of filling this vacuum, I’ve seen it happen many times in my military career, why can’t it happen now in the civilian sector? I’ve already mentioned the most important cause of our lack of real leadership, the ability of our political class in weakening our resolve by perverting our language which inevitably leads to increasing apathy amongst voting population.
Another huge factor that has led us to this critical juncture is the lack of logic and critical thinking found in many Americans, indeed I believe that the common American doesn’t even understand how important logic and critical thinking are in forging successful endeavors.

But logic and critical thinking without precisely defined terms is nothing but a game for pseudo-intellectuals and American political ’analysts’. Again let me hammer out this point: before one begins to study any problem, one must be provided a lexicon, a nomenclature of terms and definitions, i.e. a dictionary, a common ground where we can all agree on basic definitions. If we can’t all agree on the meaning of basic terms, then there can be no ground for agreement and consensus. Without knowing what the map code means, how can we know where we are and how can we even begin to trace a route to where we’re going?

      Fourth Point:
Educating oneself, from one’s own boot-straps, so to speak, without further motivation other than one’s own will, is the first step in becoming a leader, and at that starting gate you will find a dictionary, an encyclopedia and a book on English grammar. Then you can proceed with logic and critical thinking.
