The Bush administration is seeking to appoint a lawyer with little immigration or customs experience to head the troubled law enforcement agency that handles those issues, prompting sharp criticism from some employee groups, immigration advocates and homeland security experts.

The push to appoint Julie Myers to head the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement agency, part of the Department of Homeland Security, comes in the midst of intense debate over the qualifications of department political appointees involved in the sluggish response to Hurricane Katrina.

  • We would not wonder if Bush is appointing Gotti the mafia boss! Bush has to be impeached and all decisions made by him and his gang have to be rolled back!

  • if president bush’s earlier picks for filling gov’t positions is any indication of his ability to ACTUALLY pick the RIGHT person for the job, GOD HELP US! i can’t think of one person who he knows who actually NEEDS as job. i don’t dislike the guy, but i don’t think HE’S even qualified for the job he holds, so what would possibly make us think he should be picking others to fill such important posts as Secretary of State, Vice president, ambassador to the U.N., Fed Funds Chairman, the Chief Justice of the Supreme Court, fema director, (oh yeah.....good one, the guys a horse trader!!!) and now the person in charge of all our immigration policies? i’ve heard this woman’s name somewhere, but for the life of me can’t remember where, all i know is that bush doesn’t have an immigration policy, he needs these illegal aliens here in this country to perform low-paying, dead end jobs, (which american workers refuse to do simply because the good job they did have has been sent overseas) the clean-up of the devastated cities down south, because nobody in their right minds would do that work for substandard wages. unfortunately, bush seems to think that the mexican people have it so bad there, they are willing to come to this country and be exploited by companies like haliburton and bechtel and all their subsidiaries, accept the jobs americans are more than willing to do, if they would be able to feed their families at the end of the week,, but nnnnnnooooooo...Bush thinks that it would be better to let the illegals in to fill the positions for less than minimun wage, (increasing haliburtons profits) and not offer the work to the poor people who actually already live here,( who, let’s face it, know that a carpenter DOES NOT make $7.50 an hour!) who only want enough money at the end of the week to keep the bill collectors from calling. isn’t it ironic that Bush has a house sub-commitee on un-american activities, when he’s the biggest violator of them all. does he think he’s doing this country any favors by giving away the store? to appoint someone who is unqualified to do such an important job as enforcing our immigration laws, IS un-american. not to mention it opens up companies like haliburton and whoever else got those no-bid gov’t contracts to clean up and rebuild all those devastated areas the freedom to exploit, abuse, threaten and intimidate the illegal workers it hires to do the work, because they will be too afraid of being deported for standing up for themselves. this is going to come back and bite Bush on the ass. or, at least, i hope it does. it appeard that just like the Secretary of State’s appointment, Bush went with someone who wouldn’t DARE say no to him...under ANY circumstances, for fear of loosing HER job..or it could be a reward for some past "favor" that was done for him, and this is the big pay-off. either way.......it stinks.
