George Tenet’s Book Is Interesting Because of What He Doesn’t Tell Us About 9/11

I have reviewed some of the material in George Tenet’s self-serving book At the Center of the Storm. Tenet was CIA director from 1997 till his resignation in 2004. He is widely known as the protégé of former U.S. Senator David Boren, who resigned from his seat in 1994, after manipulating the regents of the University of Oklahoma into naming him president. According to Time magazine, Boren and Tenet were having a “leisurely breakfast” together in a Washington hotel on the morning of the 9/11 attack.

Of high interest is what Tenet says about Zacarias Moussaoui and the events of August 2001. After the attack Moussaoui was indicted for involvement in the 9/11 terror plot, pled guilty in 2005, and was sentenced to life imprisonment. Moussaoui spent six months in Norman, Oklahoma, during 2001 and took flight lessons there. In August he was arrested in Minnesota, and Minneapolis FBI agents suspected that he was interested in hijacking aircraft.
These agents attempted to obtain a warrant to search his laptop and other belongings about three weeks before 9/11. If they had been able to do so, it is very likely that they would have been able to discover the details of the 9/11 Al Qaeda attack plan and obstruct it. The FBI headquarters refused to cooperate with their request for a search warrant. In 2002 Minneapolis FBI agent Coleen Rowley became famous for protesting this obstruction.
Page 191 is the only place where Tenet mentions Rowley and calls her an "unknown FBI agent." He also cites the cover article of Time magazine of June 3, 2002. He does not mention the most important statement in that article. Time said that the CIA, in late August 2001, told the FBI headquarters that Moussaoui had "extremist views" but that their report from Paris "didn’t say Al Qaeda or anything like that."

This wrongful advice from the CIA empowered the FBI headquarters to deny cooperation with the search warrant request from the Minneapolis agents in August 2001. A warrant request of this nature had to be supported by evidence that there was probable cause to believe that the suspect was a terrorist.
In March 2005, after his speech at the University of Oklahoma, I confronted Tenet with this 2002 report by Time. He said, "We knew who Moussaoui was all the time" and that Time was "absolutely wrong." Go here for the 60-second video:

The question I have always had is this: if the CIA "knew who Moussaoui was" and if they had told the FBI "who Moussaoui was" then they would have told them that Moussaoui was an Al Qaeda member. If they had done so, then the FBI headquarters would have cooperated with the request for a warrant to search his laptop and other belongings.
The warrant was obstructed, so obviously the CIA didn’t tell the FBI HQ "who Moussaoui was."
So the conclusion is compelled that:
1. the CIA lied to the FBI in August 2001;
2. the request for the warrant was denied; and
3. Tenet lied again in March 2005, when I asked him about this.
What was he covering up? We need a new and honest official 9/11 investigation to answer this question.
On page 200 of the book, Tenet blames the FBI for the fiasco of August 2001. He writes:
"In my view, another opportunity may have been lost by the inability of FBI lawyers to figure out a way to search teh luggage of Zacarias Moussaoui."
On that page, Tenet also claims he never heard of Moussaoui until August 23, yet he told the OU audience "We knew who Moussaoui was all the time." How long is "all the time"?
On page 203 he blames the FBI headquarters for not cooperating with the search warrant request.
Tenet also informs readers on page 201 that during the 9/11 Commission hearings, Tom Pickard, who had been acting FBI director in August 2001, suggested that "I had somehow failed to notify him about Moussaoui."
On 201 Tenet also claims that there was "nothing" in the CIA files about Moussaoui before August 15.
Tenet is unable to keep simple facts straight. On page 191 he says that Moussaoui was arrested on August 17th. On page 201 he says that Moussaoui was "taken into custody" on August 16.

American and the world will continue to suffer from the affects of Sept. 11, 2001, all of which could have been prevented if only those in our leadership would have taken heed to the warning signs.
It was allowed and covered up, by Tenet, Boren, were part of the schmers
who helped Bush, Cheney, Rice, Rumsfed, along with many others deceive the American People.
War on the agenda from day one with this group, many have read that many
avenues of information were disgregarded, left to happen.
Why was Tenet, Boren, Bush, Cheney no where around when the planes hit, and they were no where near the areas that got hit. Why, Why Bush and Cheney,
Rice all must be arrested and put on trial .War Crimes, Murder, Lies, Cover ups. Allowing many factors to go unchecked and investigated. Thanks to people like Mike who will continue to hunt down the truth and point out facts that have been allowed to float past the Congress, Senate, Do your jobs, you were voted on Investigate the information such as Mikes has provided.

Painful 9/11 Truth

Many technical analyses cast doubt on the official explanation of the collapse of three World Trade Center buildings, including those presented by an impressive new group: Architects and Engineers for 9/11 Truth. More difficult than discovering the truth, however, is convincing most of the public to accept the bitter truth.
Americans easily block out painful truths. Powerful societal forces keep much of the population distracted and uninterested in complex issues. Entertainment-oriented mainstream media contribute to mass ignorance. And the political establishment often buries the truth, uses propaganda and manipulates citizens. Intelligent, strong-willed people can fight all these.
But on a deeper level, many truths are blocked psychologically, because they produce too much pain. This results when truths sharply disagree with strongly held beliefs. The conflict produces cognitive dissonance that can block full acceptance of the disturbing truth. People fall victim to self-manipulation and self-delusion. Truths are dismissed and false beliefs remain embedded.
When it comes to 9/11, we face the strong belief that only Al-Qaeda caused 9/11. But analyses by many experts reveal the collapse of three WTC buildings was not caused by the two airplanes exploding into the two towers. Without getting into details that one can spend many hours examining on a number of websites, the general view is that the buildings were brought down by controlled demolition.
If correct - IF - the immediate reaction is like a cosmic big bang. It would have taken considerable effort by a number of people with expertise and access to the buildings to rig them so that they could be intentionally collapsed when the two jets hit the towers. Tough questions flood in: Who could have engineered all this? Could foreign agents accomplish such complex actions - and if they did, why not take credit for it? If Americans did it, why would they intentionally inflict inevitable mass death and devastation? Worse, they seemingly knew about the plan to fly the jets into the towers.
Post-9/11, why have the government and official investigations not come to the same controlled demolition conclusion? This might be explained if the government was involved.
Pull one string and the whole 9/11 story unravels as your imagination triggers unending questions. Can Americans support a reinvestigation and rethinking of the 9/11 event? Or would they rather avoid even more pain and preserve the official account that places all blame on Al-Qaeda? So easy to criticize those who offer different explanations as conspiracy nuts.
After all, the new truth would be so shocking that we would have to question our political and government system. Could there have been such malevolence somewhere in our government? Did a monumental conspiracy push us into attacks on Afghanistan and Iraq? Did petroleum and corporate interests shape 9/11?
Like other groups, Architects and Engineers for 9/11 Truth wants a new, honest and comprehensive study that considers all the evidence for controlled demolition. First, let the technical truth emerge. Then, if necessary, cope with the inevitable political, conspiracy and other questions. But let us not allow a possible painful truth block the primary task of determining once and for all what caused the collapse of the WTC towers and building no. 7.
If there were non-Muslim forces - possibly U.S. government ones - that played a major role in the WTC catastrophe, then let us have the courage to face the truth. Suppose some element of our government played a secret, awful role. If we do not uncover it, then we are vulnerable to repeat nefarious and unimaginable activity in the future - possibly to impact the 2008 presidential election. Discovering 9/11 truth would enshrine the wisdom of the old adage: the truth hurts. That means suffering the pain of revealing lies and cover-ups. Mourning over the deaths of building victims and heroic first responders would expand with new anger. And another reason to hate and oppose the Iraq war would surface.
If those that believe the official 9/11 story - especially elected officials - trust their views, then let them support a serious investigation to test the validity of the controlled demolition hypothesis. If they fear and reject doing so, then let us see that as suspicious and unacceptable.

To sum up, horrific possible answers can cause us to shun a question. But clearing our minds of fears of painful truths is essential to clearing our nation of destructive lies. Otherwise, we stay stuck in a delusional democracy.
