Syria has replaced the dollar with the euro for all of the country’s official foreign currency transactions. The change comes against the background of a political confrontation with the United States. The state-owned Commercial Bank of Syria said it was being done "as a precaution" because of threats from the US against Damascus.
It has also stopped using dollars in the international foreign exchange deals of its private clients. Washington is leading international pressure on Syria for (…)

In the weeks before the Straussian neocons invaded Iraq, we were told only a few thousand Iraqis, at most, would die in the initial onslaught. Of course, thanks to the Pentagon, uninterested in body counts, we do not have a good idea of how many Iraqis died in the initial assault, and to make matters worse, “Iraq’s Health Ministry ... ordered a halt to a count of civilians killed during the war and (…) -

The war in Iraq is degenerating ... a lot. For American troops, Iraqi police, and Iraqi civilians, the last two months have been filled with dread, death, and disfigurement. In spite of around-the-clock spin by the administration and show-dog obedience by the bouzhie-press, the reality of the war is filtering into the public’s consciousness. Certain phrases are haunting us: "weapons of mass destruction"... "yellow-cake (…) -

Norman Finkelstein Challenges the Conventional Line on Israel.
Why is the history of modern Palestine such a matter of debate? Why is it still regarded as a complex, indeed obscure, chapter in contemporary history that cannot be easily deciphered? Any abecedarian student of its past who comes to it with clean hands would immediately recognize that in fact its story is very simple. For that matter it is not vastly different from other colonialist instances or tales of (…) -

Our special investigation reveals that critical rise in world temperatures is now unavoidable
By Michael McCarthy
A crucial global warming "tipping point" for the Earth, highlighted only last week by the British Government, has already been passed, with devastating consequences.
Research commissioned by The Independent reveals that the accumulation of greenhouse gases in the atmosphere has now crossed a threshold, set down by scientists from around the world at a conference in Britain (…) -

A major American attack on Iran’s nuclear sites would kill up to 10,000 people and lead to war in the Middle East, a report says today.
Hundreds of scientists and technicians would be targets in the opening salvos as the attacks focused on eliminating further nuclear development, the Oxford Research Group says in Iran: Consequences of a War.
The research coincides with reports that strategists at the Pentagon are drawing up plans for "a last resort" strike if (…) -
More Evidence Nuking Iran is on Schedule

4 commentsIn a story appearing in the Sunday Telegraph, the newspaper once owned by the Canadian criminal finagler and neocon “Lord” Conrad Black, amoral strategists “at the Pentagon are drawing up plans for devastating bombing raids backed by submarine-launched ballistic missile attacks against Iran’s nuclear sites as a ‘last resort’ to block Teheran’s efforts to develop an atomic bomb.” If not so deadly serious, the idea that the Straussian neocons will shock and awe Iran only as a “last resort” (…)

Agenda 21 - A World-wide Blueprint for International Totalitarian Control
12 February 2006 par (Open-Publishing)
1 commentAccording to the United Nations, "Agenda 21 is a comprehensive plan of action to be taken globally, nationally and locally by organizations of the United Nations System, Governments, and Major Groups in every area in which human impacts on the environment."
Agenda 21 is actually a world-wide blueprint for international totalitarian control of all the earth, and its resources - including "human resources". The goal of Agenda 21 is "sustainable development" - a term used to expound upon the (…)
