Here we go again . The war drums are beating . The New York Times is spewing forth yet more baloney . Judith Miller is gone but James Risen has taken her place as Chief Correspondent for the Neocon War Party and it’s The Toilet Paper of Record .
Risen claims that Iran has been pursuing the dreaded nuke for the past twenty years . Oh Really? Where are they hiding this programme? For the past three years , The International Atomic Energy Association has scowered the country from one (…)

14 January 2006 par (Open-Publishing)
3 commentsThe Army cited incentives approved by Congress for the current budget year that may help further. New recruits now can receive up to $40,000 as sign-up bonus and up to $90,000 for re-enlisting.
This is the last paragraph of a long and winding article, unrelated to recruitment.

Bush Cruise Missiles Murder Pakistani Civilians
By Peter Fredson
January 14, 2006
Emperor George I, by grace of the Supreme God of the Universe, and the Republican Senate, murdered at least 17 to 35 civilians today, in Pakistan, by launching multiple cruise missiles, which destroyed their homes and lives. By Bush terms, so few deaths are negligible, hardly worth mentioning.
He would be willing to murder many more times that number to achieve his objective in combating “terrorism” (…) -
Cheney calls Iraq " Remarkable Success Story"
13 January 2006 par (Open-Publishing)
8 commentsOn the Pentagon’s own website , Vice President Cheney was quoted as telling Tony Snow of Fox News that Iraq has become ,in his words, " a remarkable success story."
A country in ruins , hundreds of thousands dead , US journalists and diplomats billeted behind their Maginot Line , the so called Green Zone, a country polluted with depleted uranium , and the President of Vice regales in his "triumph".
He furthermore is touting yet more forgeries created by the Pentagon’s Office of (…) -

WASHINGTON — Some of President Reagan’s top advisers have operated a virtual parallel government outside the traditional Cabinet departments and agencies almost from the day Reagan took office, congressional investigators and administration officials have concluded.
Investigators believe that the advisers’ activities extended well beyond the secret arms sales to Iran and aid to the contras now under investigation.
Lt. Col. Oliver North, for (…) -

1 comment"Iran’s relations with its erstwhile partners in Europe seem to be hurtling downhill like a snowball out of control." - Bridget Kendall, BBC diplomatic correspondent, 27 October 2005
No prizes awarded for what inspired this classic piece of state propaganda but it speaks reams about the relationship between the state and the corporate media. After all, what is it based on? Nothing more than the US and UK’s assertion concerning Iran’s ‘intentions’, in other words, Ms. Kendall’s words are (…) -
The night the Americans came
12 January 2006 par (Open-Publishing)
4 commentsLast weekend an American special task force unit raided my house. It was precisely the kind of terrifying experience I have had described to me over and over again by Iraqis I have interviewed in the past two-and-a-half years. My wife, Zina, described it as like something out of a Hollywood action movie.
It began at half past midnight on Saturday when explosives blew apart the three entrances to my house. We thought we had been caught in a bombing, but then a rifle sneaked round our (…) -
CIA Gave Iran Nuclear Plans
9 January 2006 par (Open-Publishing)
By: By Josh Meyer
WASHINGTON - In a clumsy effort to sabotage Iran’s nuclear program, the CIA in 2004 intentionally handed Tehran some top-secret bomb designs laced with a hidden flaw that U.S. officials hoped would doom any weapon made from them, according to a new book about the U.S. intelligence agency.
But the Iranians were tipped to the scheme by the Russian defector hired by the CIA to deliver the plans and may have gleaned scientific information useful for designing a bomb, writes (…) -

9 January 2006 par (Open-Publishing)
2 commentsBy Amira Hass
Some 120 olive trees belonging to a Palestinian family were cut down in the southern Hebron Hills, the family said Friday.
The olive grove is located across from the West Bank village of Tawaneh, and belongs to a family from the village of Yata. Children from Tawaneh discovered the mutilated trees on Friday morning and informed the landowners, the Amur family. Police and Civil Administration officials arrived at the scene, as did the security coordinator for settlements in (…) -
Bullying Iran is not an option

4 commentsBefore Western leaders seek sanctions against Iran, they should put their own houses in order on nuclear weapons and nuclear power
by Mary Riddell
This week, barring a last-minute climb-down, Iran may get back to building a nuclear bomb. It is a small moment, and a big one. Small because the threat has lingered for years; big because the consequences could convulse the region and the world.
If Iran ends its 30-month freeze on uranium tests, the long diplomatic mission by the West will (…)
