The Gaza withdrawal has been a veil for continued persecution and ethnic cleansing of Palestinians
by Gerald Kaufman
I know the attractive Israeli seaside resort of Netanya well, having stayed several times at my niece’s flat there. Not long ago I heard on BBC radio a series of interviews with residents of Netanya, which has in the past suffered a number of terrorist attacks. They rejoiced at how much easier the situation had become following the building of the Israeli separation wall, (…)

My Dears Friends. On 15 January 2006 I will stand trial in the Israeli court. I will be charged with 21 counts of speaking or meeting with foreigners, which Israel has said I am not allowed to do. These restrictions were imposed on me on 21 April 2004 upon my release from 18 years of isolation in prison. I am asking all of my friends and supporters all over the world to help and support me in this very important case. I think this trial (…) -
Foreign Fighter Lie Exposed: 1300 insurgents arrested- all Iraqis, no foreigners
7 December 2005 par (Open-Publishing)
Iraqis, rather than foreign fighters, now form the vast majority of the insurgents who are waging a ferocious guerrilla war against United States forces in Sunni western Iraq, American commanders have revealed.
Their conclusion, disclosed to the Sunday Telegraph in interviews over 10 days in battle-torn Anbar province, contradicts the White House message that outsiders are the principal enemy in Iraq.
Of 1,300 suspected insurgents arrested over the past five months in and around Ramadi, (…) -

On Saturday, December 10, in London, England, leaders of the peace movement against the Iraq war from the United States, the United Kingdom, and Iraq will meet to strategize. There is hope that the tide has already turned against the occupation, and that a coordinated international effort will be able to mobilize sufficient public pressure to bring the war to a complete end.

A retired US ambassador has reignited the debate about one of south Asia’s greatest whodunits, the death in 1988 of Pakistan’s president General Zia ul-Haq, by saying that Israel was responsible.
John Gunther Dean, then US ambassador to India, said he suspected Israel’s secret service Mossad of downing Gen Zia’s aircraft in an effort to stop Pakistan developing the nuclear bomb. But when he reported these suspicions to Washington, he was accused of being mentally (…) -

The Wall Street Journal has a new article on the role of mental health professionals in treating war trauma in Iraq Therapists take on soldiers’ trauma in Iraq. The military has caught on to how these workers can aid the war effort and has increased their per capita numbers. Rather than seeking the best treatment to help traumatized soldiers recover from their stressful and horrific experiences, these professionals attempt to patch soldiers in order to return them to (…) -
Congressmen claim Iraqi pullout is coming

Amid raucous debate in Congress about an exit strategy from Iraq, U.S. commanders on the ground have already launched plans to close bases and withdraw troops in the coming year, according to two congressmen who returned from Iraq this week.
"They wouldn’t put a hard date on it, but clearly the planning is at a very mature level," Rep. John Kline, R-Minn., said. "We can shrink down the number of bases as we shrink down the number of Americans."
Rep. Mark Kennedy, R-Minn., (…) -
What Kind of Incendiary Bombs were used against Civilians in Iraq

The earlier pre-mixed ’napalm’ bomb utilized benzene, gasoline and polystyrene. The Pentagon destroyed its stockpile of napalm canisters, which had been stored near Camp Pendleton at the Fallbrook Naval Weapons Station, in April 2001.
Following is my understanding of the present MK77 - mod 5 bomb. Hundreds of partially loaded MK77 - mod 5 firebombs were stored on pre-positioned ammunition ships overseas. Those ships were unloaded in Kuwait during the weeks preceding the (…) -

2 commentsNeither Bush nor Blair is in a position to take a high moral line on Iran’s nuclear programme
by Tony Benn
Britain has played a leading role in the negotiations with Iran about its nuclear programme and the risk that it might lead to the development of an atomic bomb, and may well seek to take the matter to the UN security council.
Given that the prime minister himself is determined to upgrade Trident and appears to be committed to a new series of nuclear power stations, his position (…) -

By Peter Fredson
December 5, 2005
After a recent Bush speech to Annapolis Cadets the Pentagon announced a “growing consensus” to cut down on the number of U.S. troops in Iraq.
It seems to me a stronger statement would have been that, in view of very strong criticism, Bush is now, at least, considering doing “something” about the Iraq quagmire. He’s not considering doing very much but is pulling out all emotional stops to defend his (…)
