    With now over 300 reported deaths, 500 injured and thousands rendered homeless as a result of the October 29 earthquake that struck Baluchistan in southwest Pakistan a new need for humanitarian assistance presents itself. Many in the area have left their homes because of fear that their homes will collapse due to structural damage from the initial earthquake or the numerous aftershocks that continue to occur.

    Shops, businesses, schools and government offices remained closed as people across occupied Kashmir observed a general strike on Monday to mark the anniversary of the day Indian troops took control of the region in 1947.

    A missile believed to have been fired from a US drone aircraft has killed up to 20 people in Pakistan’s South Waziristan border region, Pakistani officials said today.
    The strike targeted a house belonging to an aide to a local Taliban leader in what is thought to be a stronghold of Taliban and al-Qaida forces.
