The USA is a world leading annual per capita greenhouse gas (GHG) polluter but is refusing to make required cuts in GHG pollution.

In 2009 the WBGU, which advises the German Government on climate change, estimated that for a 75% chance of avoiding a disastrous 2C temperature rise (EU policy; would you board a plane with a 25% chance of crashing?) the world can emit no more than 600 billion tonnes of carbon dioxide (CO2) between 2010 and zero emissions in 2050.

At its present rate of GHG pollution the US will use up its "fair share" of this terminal GHG pollution budget within 3 years and will then be stealing the entitlement of countries such as Somalia and Bangladesh. Countries that must cease GHG pollution within 5 years relative to mid-2010: Belize (0.8 years), Qatar (1.3), Guyana (1.4), Malaysia (1.9), United Arab Emirates (2.0), Kuwait (2.4), Papua New Guinea (2.5), Brunei (2.8), Australia (2.8; 1.1 if including its huge GHG Exports), Antigua & Barbuda (2.8), Zambia (2.9), Canada (3.0), Bahrain (3.0), United States (3.1), Trinidad & Tobago (3.3), Luxembourg (3.4), Panama (3.7), New Zealand (3.7), Estonia (4.0), Botswana (4.1), Ireland (4.3), Saudi Arabia (4.4), Venezuela (4.6), Indonesia (4.8), Equatorial Guinea (5.0), Belgium (5.0).

According to top climate scientist and biologists, the World having achieved zero GHG emissions, it will still need to reduce the atmospheric CO2 concentration from the present dangerous and damaging 394 parts per million (ppm) CO2 to about 300 ppm CO2 for a safe planet for all people sand all species (see “300.org - return atmosphere CO2 to 300 ppm”: https://sites.google.com/site/300or... ) .
