To all People,
In order to complete the NeoCon-Corporate take over of the World by the psychologically ill and mentally depraved Military Industrial Complex an attack of a particular nature, type, and geographical structure will be carried out with a simultaneous attack in possible Northern Ireland and Europe to paralyze any social political opposition to military take over and the creation of a world military slave system run by corporations making children into worker slaves with no (…)

Rachel was bulldozed to death, but her words are a spur to action
9 October 2005It is disturbing to see our daughter played on stage, but it drives home the impact she has had since her killing in Gaza
by Cindy and Craig Corrie
When our daughter Rachel Corrie was killed by an Israeli bulldozer in the Gaza strip on March 16 2003, an immediate impulse was to get her words out to the world. She had been working in Rafah with a nonviolent resistance organisation, the International Solidarity Movement, trying to stop the demolition of Palestinian homes and wells. Her (…) -
The Left, the Enemy of My Enemy, and Liberation: The Case of the Iraqi Resistance
9 October 2005Factions on the Left have called for "Support for the Iraqi Resistance" and criticized those who don’t endorse the call. For example, at this year’s Left Forum, Anthony Arnove and Tariq Ali debated Stephen Shalom and Joanne Landy on this issue, with the first two arguing for supporting the resistance. Some commentators even refer to this resistance as "freedom fighters in Iraq." My sympathies are with the other side. While one might argue for some abstract "right to resist occupation," what (…)

Binding the Hands of Torturers
8 October 2005When the Senate voted this week to bring America’s chain of military prison camps under the rule of law, President Bush threatened a veto. The White House explained his objections by saying the measure would bind the government’s hands. Yes, exactly. The rules would finally bind military prisons to democratic values and the standards of behavior recognized by every other civilized nation. They would bind the government to a code of conduct that will help protect those in the nation’s (…)

Major Business Groups Split With Bush Administration Over Patriot Act
8 October 2005by Michael Sniffen WASHINGTON - Some of the nation’s most powerful business groups are splitting with the Bush administration over whether to restrict the anti-terror USA Patriot Act.
The business groups complained to Congress on Wednesday that the Patriot Act makes it too easy for the government to get confidential business records. That put them at odds with one of President Bush’s top priorities - the unfettered extension of the law passed after the Sept. 11, 2001, attacks.

In 1960, at the tender age of 18, Cassius Clay tossed his Olympic gold medal into the Ohio River. He had just been denied service at a restaurant in Louisville when he tried to order a hamburger only weeks after winning boxing gold in Athens.
The rest of the story has become a classic, as Clay, now Muhammad (…) -
Climate Change and Human Health
8 October 2005by Paul R. Epstein
In 1998, Hurricane Mitch dropped six feet of rain on Central America in three days. In its wake, the incidence of malaria, dengue fever, cholera, and leptospirosis soared. In 2000, rain and three cyclones inundated Mozambique for six weeks, and the incidence of malaria rose fivefold. In 2003, a summer heat wave in Europe killed tens of thousands of people, wilted crops, set forests ablaze, and melted 10 percent of the Alpine glacial mass.
This summer’s blistering heat (…) -
Congress Seeks to Slash Food Aid for Poor
8 October 2005By LIBBY QUAID
Under orders to whittle agriculture spending by $3 billion, Republicans in Congress propose to slash food programs for the poor by $574 million and subsidies and conservation programs by $1 billion each, The Associated Press has learned.
The plan by Senate Agriculture Committee chairman Saxby Chambliss, R-Ga., would reduce farmers’ payments by 2.5 percent across the board, slashing spending by $1.145 billion over five years. That’s half the 5 percent the Bush (…)
