The two major antiwar coalitions that have initiated and organized for a massive antiwar March on Washington for September 24 have agreed to organize a joint rally followed by a joint march.
Both coalitions will organize under their own banners, slogans and with their own literature for the September 24 demonstration.
The joint rally will begin at 11:30 am at the Ellipse in the front of the White House.
We urge everyone around the country to unite and come out for the largest possible (…)

Nick Berg Enjoyed Favored Treatment from the Norman City Court
19 August 2005Michael P. Wright — Norman, Oklahoma, USA mpwright9@aol.com
In the spring of 2000, Nick Berg was arrested twice by University of Oklahoma police and accused of trespass because he was sleeping on OU couches. He was not an OU student at the time. Why was this young man from a comfortable suburb in Pennsylvania appearing to be a homeless vagrant in Norman, Oklahoma?
If my suspicions are correct that he was infiltrating Al Qaeda under CIA supervision, then the appearance of being a vagrant (…) -
AIR FORCE ACADEMY (AGAIN)
19 August 2005By William Fisher
A retired Army major general is throwing fuel on the hot issue of religious discrimination at the U.S. Air Force Academy by writing to commanders there to urge their backing a Christian evangelical rally for military personnel sponsored by Rev. Billy Graham’s ministry ? and signing his letters “Your Partner in the Gospel”.
The academy, which has been dogged by allegations of harassment against non-Christian cadets, charged that Bob Dees has sent promotional literature (…) -
Chile Completes Its Transition To Democracy
19 August 2005by Brian McAfee
In two key decisions Chile has restored her democracy lost on September 11, 1973 when Gen. Augusto Pinochet overthrew democratically elected president Salvador Allende in a bloody Coupe supported by the United States.
On July 6, a Chilean court ruled 11 to 10 to remove Picnochet’s immunity he had granted himself when he became dictator in 1973. This opens the door to the families of those murdered and tortured by his regime to pursue legal action against him. There (…) -

Anti-war protester Sheehan leaving camp because of mother’s stroke
19 August 2005CRAWFORD, Texas - The grieving mother who started an anti-war demonstration near President Bush’s ranch nearly two weeks ago said Thursday she was leaving because her mother had a stroke.
Cindy Sheehan told reporters she had just received the phone call and would rush to her 74-year-old mother’s side. Her mother lives in the Los Angeles area.
"I’ll be back as soon as possible if it’s possible," Sheehan said. After hugging some of her supporters, she got in a van and left.

Soul Search
19 August 2005By John Dinges
For the last seven years, the press in Venezuela has had a story that would be the envy of any red-blooded, news-addicted reporter. It is a story of political upheaval and social change that began when Hugo Chavez was elected in 1998, and promptly rewrote the constitution. He has fended off efforts to dislodge him ever since. Chavez is floating vast income-redistribution programs, including housing and land reform that have peasants squatting on private property, on bonanza (…) -
FBI Tells Enormous Lie About Nick Berg
19 August 2005Michael P. Wright — Norman, Oklahoma, USA mpwright9@aol.com
In a letter sent to me in response to a Freedom of Information Act request, the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) tells an enormous lie. They don’t admit to having ever investigated Nick Berg. Strictly speaking, they say that their "central record" files located no records at "headquarters" to indicate that Berg has ever been of "investigatory interest to the FBI." Then they invite me to check with their various field (…) -

Let us for a few moments put aside our lavish lifestyles of fortuitous endowment and providence that have made us blind to the realities of billions of our fellow humans. Let us ignore our plasma televisions, our DVDs, our two-story cookie cutter homes and gas-guzzling SUVs. Let us promise to not open our overstocked pantries and refrigerators, or to go out and eat at one of many corporate controlled franchise (…)
