Radio exchange contradicts army version of Gaza killing
by Chris McGreal in Jerusalem
An Israeli army officer who repeatedly shot a 13-year-old Palestinian girl in Gaza dismissed a warning from another soldier that she was a child by saying he would have killed her even if she was three years old.
The officer, identified by the army only as Captain R, was charged this week with illegal use of his weapon, conduct unbecoming an officer and other relatively minor infractions after (…)

28 November 2004By John Solomon WASHINGTON (AP) A third or more of the government property Halliburton Co. was paid to manage for the U.S.-led Coalition Provisional Authority in Iraq could not be located by auditors, investigative reports to Congress show.
Halliburton’s KBR subsidiary ’’did not effectively manage government property’’ and auditors could not locate hundreds of CPA items worth millions of dollars in Iraq and Kuwait this summer and fall, Inspector General Stuart W. Bowen reported to (…) -

At least 109 US troops have been killed in Iraq this month, about half of whom died in an offensive that began on Nov. 8 to crush insurgents in their former stronghold Falluja, according to Pentagon figures.

28 November 2004By E&P Staff
NEW YORK As the toll of Americans killed and wounded in Iraq in November approaches record levels for one month in this war, is the press only telling part of the story?
The Pentagon’s latest official count, provided on Wednesday, listed 1230 American military killed in Iraq and another 9300 U.S. troops wounded in action. How seriously? More than 5000 of them were too badly injured to return to duty. More than 850 troops were reported to have been wounded in action in (…) -
Talks start on a calmer Palm Island

Scottish Socialist Party in deep crisis
28 November 2004By Rob Sewell in Glasgow
The Scottish Socialist Party, once heralded by many on the left as the most successful socialist experiment in recent times, is in the process of tearing itself apart after sacking its founder and leader Tommy Sheridan as the party’s convener. Officially he is now simply a “backbencher”.
Sheridan was recently dumped as leader by a 19 - 0 vote by the party’s executive committee apparently over his mishandling of allegations about sexual infidelity with a party (…) -
American Fascism
28 November 2004by Sean Donahue
What did the Fascist regimes in Italy, Germany, and Spain have in common? They consisted of a highly militarized state, backed by corporation and a wealthy elite, that rose to power through a false populism that exploited the public’s fear of foreigners and “moral degenerates.” This precisely defines the formula that Karl Rove designed to consolidate the Bush administration’s power in the recent election.
AMERICAN FASCISM
“American fascism will not be really (…) -
On The Flood...of e-mail:
28 November 2004Of those who know me personally, many were initially likely to be surprised at my picking up the gauntlet of political struggle early on in my support of Dennis Kucinich’s campaign in the second half of 2003. I’m known for being the quiet one in the family, the one who hangs back and observes, or writes nostalgic and gentle poetry. Maybe a fantasy poem or short story, but politics? They know I’ve done some news aggregation on environmental issues and wind energy in particular, but nothing (…)

Denver, Co: November 26, 2004
To those of us on the inside of this issue, it seems inconceivable that our local newspapers would offer a front page story on election fraud in Ukraine while ignoring stories of the same right here at home in the United States. Every day, since November 2nd, 2004, stories have emerged detailing such things as (…) -

While Ukrainians poured into the streets of their capital Kiev to protest a presidential election they say was stolen by that country’s current regime, here in the U.S. a little-known election company called Sequoia Pacific, (…)
